“ Yet even now,” the LORD says,“ return to me with all your heart– with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Tear your hearts, not just your garments!”Return to the LORD your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and boundless in loyal love– often relenting from calamitous punishment.

I consider my actions and follow your rules.

Tremble with fear and do not sin! Meditate as you lie in bed, and repent of your ways!( Selah)

Here then is what the LORD who rules over all says:‘ Think carefully about what you are doing.You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but are never filled. You drink, but are still thirsty. You put on clothes, but are not warm. Those who earn wages end up with holes in their money bags.’”“ Moreover, the LORD who rules over all says:‘ Pay close attention to these things also.Go up to the hill country and bring back timber to build the temple. Then I will be pleased and honored,’ says the LORD.‘ You expected a large harvest, but instead there was little, and when you brought it home it disappeared right away. Why?’ asks the LORD who rules over all.‘ Because my temple remains in ruins, thanks to each of you favoring his own house!

Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God, for your sin has been your downfall!Return to the LORD and repent! Say to him:“ Completely forgive our iniquity; accept our penitential prayer, that we may offer the praise of our lips as sacrificial bulls.Assyria cannot save us; we will not ride warhorses. We will never again say,‘ Our gods’ to what our own hands have made. For only you will show compassion to Orphan Israel!”

The wicked need to abandon their lifestyle and sinful people their plans. They should return to the LORD, and he will show mercy to them, and to their God, for he will freely forgive them.

Messengers delivered the letters from the king and his officials throughout Israel and Judah. This royal edict read:“ O Israelites, return to the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, so he may return to you who have been spared from the kings of Assyria.

“ Come on! Let’s return to the LORD! He himself has torn us to pieces, but he will heal us! He has injured us, but he will bandage our wounds!

A person should examine himself first, and in this way let him eat the bread and drink of the cup.

For if you return to the LORD, your brothers and sons will be shown mercy by their captors and return to this land. The LORD your God is merciful and compassionate; he will not reject you if you return to him.”

In your distress when all these things happen to you in the latter days, if you return to the LORD your God and obey him

Because he considered and turned from all the sins he had done, he will surely live; he will not die.

But you must return to your God, by maintaining love and justice, and by waiting for your God to return to you.

but I declared to those in Damascus first, and then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds consistent with repentance.

“ Has anyone said to God,‘ I have endured chastisement, but I will not act wrongly any more.Teach me what I cannot see. If I have done evil, I will do so no more.’

But if we examined ourselves, we would not be judged.

“ As for you, if you prove faithful, and if you stretch out your hands toward him,if iniquity is in your hand– put it far away, and do not let evil reside in your tents.For then you will lift up your face without blemish; you will be securely established and will not fear.

Therefore say to the people: The LORD who rules over all says,“ Turn to me,” says the LORD who rules over all,“ and I will turn to you,” says the LORD who rules over all.“ Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the former prophets called out, saying,‘ The LORD who rules over all says,“ Turn now from your evil wickedness,”’ but they would by no means obey me,” says the LORD.

He told them:“ You are the leaders of the Levites’ families. You and your relatives must consecrate yourselves and bring the ark of the LORD God of Israel up to the place I have prepared for it.The first time you did not carry it; that is why the LORD God attacked us, because we did not ask him about the proper way to carry it.”
