“耶和华啊，求你观看！求你鉴察！你曾这样对待过谁呢？难道妇人应该吃掉自己所生的，就是自己所抚养的婴孩吗？难道祭司和先知应该在主的圣所里被杀害吗？”

“耶和華啊，求你觀看！求你鑒察！你曾這樣對待過誰呢？難道婦人應該吃掉自己所生的，就是自己所撫養的嬰孩嗎？難道祭司和先知應該在主的聖所裡被殺害嗎？”

永恆主啊，看吧！鑒察吧！看你向誰這樣加罰過！婦人哪能喫自己所生育的，喫自己撫弄的嬰孩呢？祭司和神言人哪可在主的聖所中被殺戮呢？

耶和華歟、尚其鑒察、爾行此於誰兮、婦所產育保抱之子、可自食之乎、祭司先知、可戮於耶和華聖所乎、

耶和華兮、請爾視之、所責者誰、婦之初娩、自食其子、祭司先知、見戮於聖所兮。

主曾責誰若是、主其鑒而思之、婦食所產育所懷抱之嬰孩、祭司先知見戮於主之聖殿、曾有若是者乎、或作求主鑒而視之主曾待誰如此何曾有婦食所生育所懷抱之嬰孩何曾有祭司先知見戮於主之聖殿

“ Look, Lord, and consider: Whom have you ever treated like this? Should women eat their offspring, the children they have cared for? Should priest and prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?

Jerusalem says,“ Lord, look at me. Think about my condition. Have you ever treated anyone else like this? Should women have to eat their babies? Should they eat the children they’ve taken care of? Should priests and prophets be killed in your own temple?

Look, O Lord, and see! With whom have you dealt thus? Should women eat the fruit of their womb, the children of their tender care? Should priest and prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?

LORD, look and consider to whom you have done this. Should women eat their own children, the infants they have nurtured? Should priests and prophets be killed in the Lord’s sanctuary?

See, Lord, and look! With whom have You dealt this way? Should women really eat their children, The little ones who were born healthy? Should priest and prophet really be killed In the sanctuary of the Lord?

“ See, O Lord, and consider! To whom have You done this? Should the women eat their offspring, The children they have cuddled? Should the priest and prophet be slain In the sanctuary of the Lord?

See, O Jehovah, and behold to whom thou hast done thus! Shall the women eat their fruit, the children that are dandled in the hands? Shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?

Lord, look and consider who You have done this to. Should women eat their own children, the infants they have nurtured? Should priests and prophets be killed in the Lord’s sanctuary?

Behold, O LORD, and consider to whom thou hast done this. Shall the women eat their fruit,[ and] children of a span long? shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?

Look, O Lord! Consider! Whom have you ever afflicted like this? Should women eat their offspring, their healthy infants? Should priest and prophet be killed in the Lord’s sanctuary?ש( Sin/ Shin)

“ Look, Yahweh, and see to whom you have done thus! Should the women eat their offspring, the children that they held and bounced on their knees? Should the priest and the prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?

I will see to it that your enemies lay siege to the city until all the food is gone. Then those trapped inside will eat their own sons and daughters and friends. They will be driven to utter despair.’

Tenderhearted women have cooked their own children. They have eaten them to survive the siege.

Their priests were slaughtered, and their widows could not mourn their deaths.

But Moses tried to pacify the Lord his God.“ O Lord!” he said.“ Why are you so angry with your own people whom you brought from the land of Egypt with such great power and such a strong hand?

Yet it happened because of the sins of her prophets and the sins of her priests, who defiled the city by shedding innocent blood.

I prayed to the Lord and said,‘ O Sovereign Lord, do not destroy them. They are your own people. They are your special possession, whom you redeemed from Egypt by your mighty power and your strong hand.

“ Even the priests and prophets are ungodly, wicked men. I have seen their despicable acts right here in my own Temple,” says the Lord.“ Therefore, the paths they take will become slippery. They will be chased through the dark, and there they will fall. For I will bring disaster upon them at the time fixed for their punishment. I, the Lord, have spoken!“ I saw that the prophets of Samaria were terribly evil, for they prophesied in the name of Baal and led my people of Israel into sin.But now I see that the prophets of Jerusalem are even worse! They commit adultery and love dishonesty. They encourage those who are doing evil so that no one turns away from their sins. These prophets are as wicked as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah once were.”Therefore, this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says concerning the prophets:“ I will feed them with bitterness and give them poison to drink. For it is because of Jerusalem’s prophets that wickedness has filled this land.”

Surely you are still our Father! Even if Abraham and Jacob would disown us, Lord, you would still be our Father. You are our Redeemer from ages past.Lord, why have you allowed us to turn from your path? Why have you given us stubborn hearts so we no longer fear you? Return and help us, for we are your servants, the tribes that are your special possession.How briefly your holy people possessed your holy place, and now our enemies have destroyed it.Sometimes it seems as though we never belonged to you, as though we had never been known as your people.

The Lord himself has scattered them, and he no longer helps them. People show no respect for the priests and no longer honor the leaders.

Therefore, this is what the Lord says: I will punish these lying prophets, for they have spoken in my name even though I never sent them. They say that no war or famine will come, but they themselves will die by war and famine!As for the people to whom they prophesy— their bodies will be thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem, victims of famine and war. There will be no one left to bury them. Husbands, wives, sons, and daughters— all will be gone. For I will pour out their own wickedness on them.Now, Jeremiah, say this to them:“ Night and day my eyes overflow with tears. I cannot stop weeping, for my virgin daughter— my precious people— has been struck down and lies mortally wounded.If I go out into the fields, I see the bodies of people slaughtered by the enemy. If I walk the city streets, I see people who have died of starvation. The prophets and priests continue with their work, but they don’t know what they’re doing.”

Lord, we confess our wickedness and that of our ancestors, too. We all have sinned against you.For the sake of your reputation, Lord, do not abandon us. Do not disgrace your own glorious throne. Please remember us, and do not break your covenant with us.

Then you will eat the flesh of your own sons and daughters.

the prophets give false prophecies, and the priests rule with an iron hand. Worse yet, my people like it that way! But what will you do when the end comes?

Then I heard the Lord say to the other men,“ Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity!Kill them all— old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin right here at the Temple.” So they began by killing the seventy leaders.

Therefore, in a single day the Lord will destroy both the head and the tail, the noble palm branch and the lowly reed.The leaders of Israel are the head, and the lying prophets are the tail.For the leaders of the people have misled them. They have led them down the path of destruction.That is why the Lord takes no pleasure in the young men and shows no mercy even to the widows and orphans. For they are all wicked hypocrites, and they all speak foolishness. But even then the Lord’s anger will not be satisfied. His fist is still poised to strike.

And yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand.Don’t be so angry with us, Lord. Please don’t remember our sins forever. Look at us, we pray, and see that we are all your people.Your holy cities are destroyed. Zion is a wilderness; yes, Jerusalem is a desolate ruin.The holy and beautiful Temple where our ancestors praised you has been burned down, and all the things of beauty are destroyed.After all this, Lord, must you still refuse to help us? Will you continue to be silent and punish us?

But then the king asked,“ What is the matter?” She replied,“ This woman said to me:‘ Come on, let’s eat your son today, then we will eat my son tomorrow.’So we cooked my son and ate him. Then the next day I said to her,‘ Kill your son so we can eat him,’ but she has hidden her son.”

Parents will eat their own children, and children will eat their parents. I will punish you and scatter to the winds the few who survive.

“ I begged my allies for help, but they betrayed me. My priests and leaders starved to death in the city, even as they searched for food to save their lives.

“ The siege and terrible distress of the enemy’s attack will be so severe that you will eat the flesh of your own sons and daughters, whom the Lord your God has given you.The most tenderhearted man among you will have no compassion for his own brother, his beloved wife, and his surviving children.He will refuse to share with them the flesh he is devouring— the flesh of one of his own children— because he has nothing else to eat during the siege and terrible distress that your enemy will inflict on all your towns.The most tender and delicate woman among you— so delicate she would not so much as touch the ground with her foot— will be selfish toward the husband she loves and toward her own son or daughter.She will hide from them the afterbirth and the new baby she has borne, so that she herself can secretly eat them. She will have nothing else to eat during the siege and terrible distress that your enemy will inflict on all your towns.
