耶和華啊！我一心呼求你，求你應允我；我必遵守你的律例。

為了這些事我不住哭泣，我的眼不住流下淚水；因為那安慰我、使我重新振作的，都遠離了我。我的兒女孤單淒涼，因為仇敵得勝了。

耶和華定意要拆毀錫安居民（“居民”原文作“女子”）的城牆；他拉了準繩，決不停手，務要把它吞滅。他使堡壘和城牆都悲哀，一同受痛苦。

但願我的頭是水井，我的眼是淚的泉源；我好為我同胞（“同胞”原文作“人民的女子”）中被殺的，晝夜哭泣。（本節在《馬索拉文本》為8:23）

我的眼淚像河水湧流，因為人都不謹守你的律法。

她在夜間痛哭，淚流滿面。在她所有親愛的人中，沒有一個安慰她的。她所有的朋友都以詭詐待她，都成了她的仇敵。

他們並沒有真心向我呼求，只是在床上哀慟罷了。他們為了五穀和新酒割傷（“割傷”或譯：“聚集”或“激發”）自己，仍然悖逆我。

“你要對他們說這話：‘願我的眼淚直流，日夜不停；因為我的同胞（“同胞”原文作“人民的處女”）遭受極大的毀滅，受到很嚴重的打擊。

耶和華啊！我們在急難中尋求你；你的懲罰臨到我們身上的時候，我們就傾心吐意低聲禱告。懷孕的婦人臨產時怎樣疼痛，在絞痛中喊叫；耶和華啊！我們在你面前也是這樣。

如果你們不聽從，我必因你們的驕傲暗暗哭泣；我的眼必痛哭流淚，因為耶和華的羊群被擄去了。

石頭必從牆裡呼叫，梁木必在樹中應聲。

萬軍之耶和華這樣說：“你們要思想，要把唱哀歌的婦女召來，把那些擅長哀哭的婦女請來；叫他們趕快為我們舉哀，使我們的眼流下眼淚，使我們的眼皮湧出淚水。

我聽到好像婦人產痛的叫聲，正像生頭胎孩子的婦人疼痛的叫聲，就是錫安居民（“居民”原文作“女子”）的聲音，他們喘著氣，伸開雙手，說：“哎！我有禍了！在那些殺人者跟前，我發昏了！”
