I weep because of these things; my eyes flow with tears. For there is no one in sight who can comfort me or encourage me. My children are desolated because an enemy has prevailed.פ( Pe)

我因这些事哭泣；我眼泪汪汪；因为那当安慰我、救我性命的，离我甚远。我的儿女孤苦，因为仇敌得了胜。

“我为此哭泣，泪流满面，却无人安慰、鼓励我。我的儿女凄凉孤苦，因为仇敌已经得胜。”

为了这些事我不住哭泣，我的眼不住流下泪水；因为那安慰我、使我重新振作的，都远离了我。我的儿女孤单凄凉，因为仇敌得胜了。

為了這些事我不住哭泣，我的眼不住流下淚水；因為那安慰我、使我重新振作的，都遠離了我。我的兒女孤單淒涼，因為仇敵得勝了。

『我為了這些事而哭泣；我眼我目直流淚水；因為那當安慰我、使我恢復精神的、離我很遠；我的兒女淒涼涼，因為仇敵得勝了。

我緣斯而哭泣、滿目流涕兮、慰我心蘇我靈者、遠乎我兮、我之子女伶仃、敵人獲勝兮、

緣此我為哭泣、潸然出涕、蓋慰者遠去、不加拯救兮、敵人勝予、子民煢獨兮。

緣此我哭泣不已、目中流淚如水、能慰藉我、蘇醒我心者、與我遠離、我子俱亡、因敵人得勝、

“ This is why I weep and my eyes overflow with tears. No one is near to comfort me, no one to restore my spirit. My children are destitute because the enemy has prevailed.”

“ That’s why I am weeping. Tears are flowing from my eyes. No one is near to comfort me. No one can heal my spirit. My children don’t have anything. My enemies are much too strong for me.”

“ For these things I weep; my eyes flow with tears; for a comforter is far from me, one to revive my spirit; my children are desolate, for the enemy has prevailed.”

“ For all these things I weep; tears flow down my cheeks. No one is here to comfort me; any who might encourage me are far away. My children have no future, for the enemy has conquered us.”

I weep because of these things; my eyes flow with tears. For there is no one nearby to comfort me, no one to keep me alive. My children are desolate because the enemy has prevailed.

For these things I weep; My eyes run down with water; Because far from me is a comforter, One to restore my soul. My children are desolate Because the enemy has prevailed.”

“ For these things I weep; My eye, my eye overflows with water; Because the comforter, who should restore my life, Is far from me. My children are desolate Because the enemy prevailed.”

For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water; Because the comforter that should refresh my soul is far from me: My children are desolate, because the enemy hath prevailed.

I weep because of these things; my eyes flow with tears. For there is no one nearby to comfort me, no one to keep me alive. My children are desolate because the enemy has prevailed.

For these[ things] I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water, because the comforter that should relieve my soul is far from me: my children are desolate, because the enemy prevailed.

“ For these things I weep. My eye, my eye runs down with water, because the comforter who should refresh my soul is far from me. My children are desolate, because the enemy has prevailed.”

She weeps bitterly at night; tears stream down her cheeks. She has no one to comfort her among all her lovers. All her friends have betrayed her; they have become her enemies.ג( Gimel)

Streams of tears flow from my eyes because my people are destroyed.ע( Ayin)Tears flow from my eyes and will not stop; there will be no break

Cry out from your heart to the Lord, O wall of Daughter Zion! Make your tears flow like a river all day and all night long! Do not rest; do not let your tears stop!ק( Qof)

But if you will not pay attention to this warning, I will weep alone because of your arrogant pride. I will weep bitterly and my eyes will overflow with tears because you, the LORD’s flock, will be carried into exile.”

My eyes are worn out from weeping; my stomach is in knots. My heart is poured out on the ground due to the destruction of my helpless people; children and infants faint in the town squares.ל( Lamed)

“ Tell these people this, Jeremiah:‘ My eyes overflow with tears day and night without ceasing. For my people, my dear children, have suffered a crushing blow. They have suffered a serious wound.

Her foes subjugated her; her enemies are at ease. For the Lord afflicted her because of her many acts of rebellion. Her children went away captive before the enemy.ו( Vav)All of Daughter Zion’s splendor has departed. Her leaders became like deer; they found no pasture, so they were too exhausted to escape from the hunter.ז( Zayin)

Now when Jesus approached and saw the city, he wept over it,saying,“ If you had only known on this day, even you, the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.For the days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and surround you and close in on you from every side.They will demolish you– you and your children within your walls– and they will not leave within you one stone on top of another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation from God.”

So I again considered all the oppression that continually occurs on earth. This is what I saw: The oppressed were in tears, but no one was comforting them; no one delivers them from the power of their oppressors.

Tears stream down from my eyes, because people do not keep your law.צ( Tsade)

The precious sons of Zion were worth their weight in gold– Alas!– but now they are treated like broken clay pots, made by a potter.ג( Gimel)Even the jackals nurse their young at their breast, but my people are cruel, like ostriches in the desert.ד( Dalet)The infant’s tongue sticks to the roof of its mouth due to thirst; little children beg for bread, but no one gives them even a morsel.ה( He)Those who once feasted on delicacies are now starving to death in the streets. Those who grew up wearing expensive clothes are now dying amid garbage.ו( Vav)The punishment of my people exceeded that of of Sodom, which was overthrown in a moment with no one to help her.ז( Zayin)Her consecrated ones were brighter than snow, whiter than milk; their bodies more ruddy than corals, their hair like lapis lazuli.ח( Khet)Now their appearance is darker than soot; they are not recognized in the streets. Their skin has shriveled on their bones; it is dried up, like tree bark.ט( Tet)Those who died by the sword are better off than those who die of hunger, those who waste away, struck down from lack of food.י( Yod)The hands of tenderhearted women cooked their own children, who became their food, when my people were destroyed.כ( Kaf)

Her menstrual flow has soiled her clothing; she did not consider the consequences of her sin. Her demise was astonishing, and there was no one to comfort her. She cried,“ Look, O Lord, on my affliction because my enemy boasts!”י( Yod)

Even if they raise their children, I will take away every last one of them. Woe to them! For I will turn away from them.

‘ Death has climbed in through our windows. It has entered into our fortified houses. It has taken away our children who play in the streets. It has taken away our young men who gather in the city squares.’

Their insults are painful and make me lose heart; I look for sympathy, but receive none, for comforters, but find none.

Look, O Lord! Consider! Whom have you ever afflicted like this? Should women eat their offspring, their healthy infants? Should priest and prophet be killed in the Lord’s sanctuary?ש( Sin/ Shin)The young boys and old men lie dead on the ground in the streets. My young women and my young men have fallen by the sword. You killed them when you were angry; you slaughtered them without mercy.ת( Tav)As if it were a feast day, you call enemies to terrify me on every side. On the day of the Lord’s anger no one escaped or survived. My enemy has finished off those healthy infants whom I bore and raised.

I am telling the truth in Christ( I am not lying!), for my conscience assures me in the Holy Spirit–I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.For I could wish that I myself were accursed– cut off from Christ– for the sake of my people, my fellow countrymen,

I said,“ I will weep and mourn for the grasslands on the mountains, I will sing a mournful song for the pastures in the wilderness because they are so scorched no one travels through them. The sound of livestock is no longer heard there. Even the birds in the sky and the wild animals in the fields have fled and are gone.”

( 8: 23) I wish that my head were a well full of water and my eyes were a fountain full of tears! If they were, I could cry day and night for those of my dear people who have been killed.
