Jeremiah 52:17-20
The armies of Babylon destroyed the Lord’ s temple. They broke the bronze pillars into pieces. They broke up the bronze stands that could be moved around. And they broke up the huge bronze bowl. Then they carried away all the bronze to Babylon.They also took away the pots, shovels, wick cutters, sprinkling bowls and dishes. They took away all the bronze objects that were used for any purpose in the temple.The commander of the royal guard took away the bowls and the shallow cups for burning incense. He took away the sprinkling bowls, the pots, the lampstands and the dishes. He took away the bowls used for drink offerings. So he took away everything made out of pure gold or silver.The bronze was more than anyone could weigh. It included the bronze from the two pillars. It included the bronze from the huge bowl and the 12 bronze bulls under it. It also included the stands. King Solomon had made all those things for the Lord’ s temple.

Jeremiah 52:13
Nebuzaradan set the Lord’ s temple on fire. He also set fire to the royal palace and all the houses in Jerusalem. He burned down every important building.

Psalms 79:1-7
God, an army from the nations has attacked your land. They have polluted your holy temple. They have completely destroyed Jerusalem.They have left the dead bodies of your people. They have left them as food for the birds in the sky. They have left the bodies of your faithful people. They have left them for the wild animals.They have poured out the blood of your people like water. It is all around Jerusalem. No one is left to bury the dead.We are something our neighbors joke about. The nations around us laugh at us and make fun of us.Lord, how long will you be angry with us? Will it be forever? How long will your jealousy burn like fire?Bring your great anger against the nations that don’t pay any attention to you. Bring it against the kingdoms that don’t worship you.They have swallowed up the people of Jacob. They have destroyed Israel’s homeland.

So my people will be taken away as prisoners. That’s because they don’t understand what the Lord has done. Their nobles will die of hunger. The rest of the people won’t have any water to drink.So Death opens its jaws to receive them. Its mouth is open wide to swallow them up. Their nobles and the rest of the people will go down into it. They will go there together with all those who have wild parties.
