The enemy laid hands on all her treasures; she saw pagan nations enter her sanctuary— those you had forbidden to enter your assembly.

Jerusalem’s enemies took away all her treasures. Her people saw outsiders enter her temple. The Lord had commanded them not to do that.

The enemy has stretched out his hands over all her precious things; for she has seen the nations enter her sanctuary, those whom you forbade to enter your congregation.

The enemy has plundered her completely, taking every precious thing she owns. She has seen foreigners violate her sacred Temple, the place the Lord had forbidden them to enter.

The adversary has seized all her precious belongings. She has even seen the nations enter her sanctuary— those you had forbidden to enter your assembly.

We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD’S house.

Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.

Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up their ensigns[ for] signs.[ A man] was famous according as he had lifted up axes upon the thick trees.But now they break down the carved work thereof at once with axes and hammers.They have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled[ by casting down] the dwelling place of thy name to the ground.They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.

In that ye have brought[ into my sanctuary] strangers, uncircumcised in heart, and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to pollute it,[ even] my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations.

But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not,( let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

Also the pillars of brass that[ were] in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brasen sea that[ was] in the house of the LORD, the Chaldeans brake, and carried all the brass of them to Babylon.The caldrons also, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away.And the basons, and the firepans, and the bowls, and the caldrons, and the candlesticks, and the spoons, and the cups;[ that] which[ was] of gold[ in] gold, and[ that] which[ was] of silver[ in] silver, took the captain of the guard away.The two pillars, one sea, and twelve brasen bulls that[ were] under the bases, which king Solomon had made in the house of the LORD: the brass of all these vessels was without weight.

And burned the house of the LORD, and the king’s house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great[ men], burned he with fire:

O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.The dead bodies of thy servants have they given[ to be] meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and[ there was] none to bury[ them].We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.

Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because[ they have] no knowledge: and their honourable men[ are] famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

The people of thy holiness have possessed[ it] but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.

Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.

My face will I turn also from them, and they shall pollute my secret[ place]: for the robbers shall enter into it, and defile it.

Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and[ that] for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.

And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city.
