約書亞召基遍人曰、爾之居處鄰近於我、曷欺我、言來自遠方乎。

Then Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said,“ Why did you deceive us by saying,‘ We live a long way from you,’ while actually you live near us?

Joshua sent for the people of Gibeon. He said to them,“ Why did you trick us? You said,‘ We live far away from you.’ But in fact you live close to us.

Joshua called together the Gibeonites and said,“ Why did you lie to us? Why did you say that you live in a distant land when you live right here among us?

Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said to them,“ Why did you deceive us by telling us you live far away from us, when in fact you live among us?

Then Joshua called for them and spoke to them, saying,“ Why have you deceived us, saying,‘ We are very far from you,’ when you are living within our land?

Then Joshua called for them, and he spoke to them, saying,“ Why have you deceived us, saying,‘ We are very far from you,’ when you dwell near us?

And Joshua called for them, and he spake unto them, saying, Wherefore have ye beguiled us, saying, We are very far from you; when ye dwell among us?

Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said to them,“ Why did you deceive us by telling us you live far away from us, when in fact you live among us?

Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said to them,“ Why did you trick us by saying,‘ We live far away from you,’ when you really live nearby?

Joshua called for them, and he spoke to them, saying,“ Why have you deceived us, saying,‘ We are very far from you,’ when you live among us?

And they went to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal and said to him and to the men of Israel,“ We have come from a distant country, so now make a covenant with us.”

At the end of three days after they had made a covenant with them, they heard that they were their neighbors and that they lived among them.

And in the morning, behold, it was Leah! And Jacob said to Laban,“ What is this you have done to me? Did I not serve with you for Rachel? Why then have you deceived me?”

Arise, flee to Laban my brother in Haranand stay with him a while, until your brother’s fury turns away—until your brother’s anger turns away from you, and he forgets what you have done to him. Then I will send and bring you from there. Why should I be bereft of you both in one day?”

Then the Lord God said to the woman,“ What is this that you have done?” The woman said,“ The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”The Lord God said to the serpent,“ Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.

But he said,“ Your brother came deceitfully, and he has taken away your blessing.”Esau said,“ Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has cheated me these two times. He took away my birthright, and behold, now he has taken away my blessing.” Then he said,“ Have you not reserved a blessing for me?”

But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
