Then Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said,“ Why did you deceive us by saying,‘ We live a long way from you,’ while actually you live near us?

Joshua sent for the people of Gibeon. He said to them,“ Why did you trick us? You said,‘ We live far away from you.’ But in fact you live close to us.

Joshua summoned them, and he said to them,“ Why did you deceive us, saying,‘ We are very far from you,’ when you dwell among us?

Joshua called together the Gibeonites and said,“ Why did you lie to us? Why did you say that you live in a distant land when you live right here among us?

他们到吉甲营中见约书亚，对他和以色列人说：“我们是从远方来的，现在求你与我们立约。”

以色列人与他们立约之后，过了三天才听见他们是近邻，住在以色列人中间的。

到了早晨，雅各一看是利亚，就对拉班说：“你向我做的是什么事呢？我服侍你，不是为拉结吗？你为什么欺哄我呢？”

他们回答说：“仆人从极远之地而来，是因听见耶和华你神的名声和他在埃及所行的一切事，并他向约旦河东的两个亚摩利王，就是希实本王西宏和在亚斯他录的巴珊王噩一切所行的事。

以扫因他父亲给雅各祝的福，就怨恨雅各，心里说：“为我父亲居丧的日子近了，到那时候，我要杀我的兄弟雅各。”有人把利百加大儿子以扫的话告诉利百加，她就打发人去，叫了她小儿子雅各来，对他说：“你哥哥以扫想要杀你，报仇雪恨。现在，我儿，你要听我的话：起来，逃往哈兰、我哥哥拉班那里去，同他住些日子，直等你哥哥的怒气消了。你哥哥向你消了怒气，忘了你向他所做的事，我便打发人去把你从那里带回来。为什么一日丧你们二人呢？”

耶和华神对女人说：“你做的是什么事呢？”女人说：“那蛇引诱我，我就吃了。”耶和华神对蛇说：“你既做了这事，就必受咒诅，比一切的牲畜野兽更甚；你必用肚子行走，终身吃土。

以撒说：“你兄弟已经用诡计来将你的福分夺去了。”以扫说：“他名雅各，岂不是正对吗？因为他欺骗了我两次：他从前夺了我长子的名分，你看，他现在又夺了我的福分。”以扫又说：“你没有留下为我可祝的福吗？”

我只怕你们的心或偏于邪，失去那向基督所存纯一清洁的心，就像蛇用诡诈诱惑了夏娃一样。
