Then Joshua made a treaty of peace with them to let them live, and the leaders of the assembly ratified it by oath.

初基遍人不屬以色列族、乃亞摩哩族遺民。以色列族與之盟約、掃羅為以色列猶大二族熱中而殺之、至是大闢召基遍人、

自希未人基遍民而外、與以色列族修好者、無一邑焉、俱戰而得之。

我今待爾以仁慈、請爾指耶和華而誓、亦以仁慈待我全家、示我以真實之印誌。我父母、兄弟、姊妹、及凡所有、爾必保其生存、免於死亡。二人曰、我之所為當秘勿宣、則我以己命代爾、迨耶和華以斯土予我、我必待爾以仁慈、真實無妄。喇合居室、附於邑垣、故以索縋二人、由牖而下、謂之曰、當遁於山、自匿三日、恐追者及爾、待追者反、然後前往。二人曰、爾既用絳索以縋我、必以此索、仍繫於牖、集爾父母兄弟戚屬、至於斯室、厥後我儕至斯土、則爾使我所發之誓、我必恪守。

約書亞告二偵者曰、入妓之室、取其人出、與凡所有、循爾所誓之言。偵者入、取喇合、及父母兄弟親戚、與凡所有、置之城外、居以色列族營壘。以色列族燬其城、惟金銀銅鐵諸器、貯於耶和華府庫。約書亞因妓喇合曾匿所遣窺察耶利哥之使、故特救之、及其眷聚、使居以色列族中、至於今日。○

毋與其人立約、毋事其上帝。

始我命邦國、必當翦滅、撥其根本、而彼邦國、悛改厥行、則我欲降之災、必不行焉。

爾臨城攻之、先告以和、如以和相應、自啟邑門、則彼邑民、必入貢而服事爾、
