And Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land,“ Go into the prostitute’s house and bring the woman and all she has out of there, just as you have sworn to her.”

Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land,“ Go into the prostitute’s house and bring her out and all who belong to her, in accordance with your oath to her.”

Then Joshua spoke to the two men who had gone in to check out the land. He said,“ Go into the prostitute’s house. Bring her out. Also bring out everyone with her. That’s what you promised her you would do.”

But to the two men who had spied out the land, Joshua said,“ Go into the prostitute’s house and bring out from there the woman and all who belong to her, as you swore to her.”

Meanwhile, Joshua said to the two spies,“ Keep your promise. Go to the prostitute’s house and bring her out, along with all her family.”

Joshua said to the two men who had scouted the land,“ Go to the prostitute’s house and bring the woman out of there, and all who are with her, just as you swore to her.”

But Joshua had said to the two men who had spied out the country,“ Go into the harlot’s house, and from there bring out the woman and all that she has, as you swore to her.”

And Joshua said unto the two men that had spied out the land, Go into the harlot’s house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.

Joshua said to the two men who had scouted the land,“ Go to the prostitute’s house and bring the woman out of there, and all who are with her, just as you promised her.”

But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot’s house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.

Joshua told the two men who had spied on the land,“ Enter the prostitute’s house and bring out the woman and all who belong to her as you promised her.”

Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land,“ Go into the prostitute’s house, and bring the woman and all that she has out from there, as you swore to her.”

By faith the prostitute Rahab did not perish along with those who were disobedient, after she had welcomed the spies in peace.

But the city shall be designated for destruction, it and everything that is in it belongs to the Lord; only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in the house shall live, because she hid the messengers whom we sent.

Now he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, and behold, he pledged his allegiance, yet did all these things; he shall not escape.’ ”Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ As I live, My oath which he despised and My covenant which he broke, I will certainly inflict on his head.

Then he took one of the royal family and made a covenant with him, putting him under oath. He also took away the mighty of the land,

As I live,’ declares the Lord God,‘ In the country of the king who put him on the throne, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke, in Babylon he shall certainly die.

A despicable person is despised in his eyes, But he honors those who fear the Lord; He takes an oath to his own detriment, and does not change;

But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath of the Lord which was between them, between David and Saul’s son Jonathan.

But the sons of Israel did not attack them because the leaders of the congregation had sworn to them by the Lord, the God of Israel. And the whole congregation grumbled against the leaders.But all the leaders said to the whole congregation,“ We have sworn to them by the Lord, the God of Israel, and now we cannot touch them.This we will do to them, even let them live, so that wrath will not be on us because of the oath which we swore to them.”

So the king called the Gibeonites and spoke to them( now the Gibeonites were not of the sons of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites, and the sons of Israel had made a covenant with them, but Saul had sought to kill them in his zeal for the sons of Israel and Judah).

Then Joshua the son of Nun sent two men as spies secretly from Shittim, saying,“ Go, view the land, especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and rested there.But it was told to the king of Jericho, saying,“ Behold, men from the sons of Israel have come here tonight to spy out the land.”And the king of Jericho sent word to Rahab, saying,“ Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to spy out all the land.”But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them, and she said,“ Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from.It came about, when it was time to shut the gate at dark, that the men went out; I do not know where the men went. Pursue them quickly, for you will overtake them.”But she had brought them up to the roof and hidden them in the stalks of flax which she had laid in order on the roof.So the men pursued them on the road to the Jordan, to the crossing places; and as soon as those who were pursuing them had gone out, they shut the gate.Now before the spies lay down, she came up to them on the roof,and said to the men,“ I know that the Lord has given you the land, and that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land have despaired because of you.For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed.When we heard these reports, our hearts melted and no courage remained in anyone any longer because of you; for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth below.Now then, please swear to me by the Lord, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s household, and give me a pledge of truth,and spare my father and my mother, and my brothers and my sisters, and all who belong to them, and save our lives from death.”So the men said to her,“ Our life for yours if you do not tell this business of ours; and it shall come about when the Lord gives us the land that we will deal kindly and faithfully with you.”Then she let them down by a rope through the window, for her house was on the city wall, so that she was living on the wall.And she said to them,“ Go to the hill country, so that the pursuers will not encounter you, and hide yourselves there for three days until the pursuers return. Then afterward you may go on your way.”And the men said to her,“ We shall be exempt from this oath to you which you have made us swear,unless, when we come into the land, you tie this cord of scarlet thread in the window through which you let us down, and gather into your house your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household.And it shall come about that anyone who goes out of the doors of your house outside will have his blood on his own head, and we will be innocent; but anyone who is with you in the house, his blood will be on our head if a hand is laid on him.But if you tell this business of ours, then we shall be exempt from the oath which you have made us swear.”She then said,“ According to your words, so be it.” So she sent them away, and they departed; and she tied the scarlet cord in the window.So they departed and came to the hill country, and remained there for three days, until the pursuers returned. Now the pursuers had searched for them all along the road, but had not found them.Then the two men returned and came down from the hill country, and they crossed over and came to Joshua the son of Nun. Then they reported to him all that had happened to them.And they said to Joshua,“ The Lord has indeed handed over to us all the land; furthermore, all the inhabitants of the land have despaired because of us.”

And Joshua made peace with them and made a covenant with them, to let them live; and the leaders of the congregation swore an oath to them.
