因為所有從埃及出來的人民都受過割禮；唯有從埃及出來以後，所有在曠野的路上出生的人民，都沒有受過割禮。

All the people that came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness during the journey from Egypt had not.

我們今日在這裡所行的，是行各人看為正的事，你們將來不可以這樣行；因為你們現在還沒有到耶和華你的神賜給你的安息地和產業。

如果你們明白‘我喜愛憐憫，不喜愛祭祀’這句話的意思，就不會把無罪的定罪了。

因為在基督耶穌裡，受割禮或不受割禮，都沒有用處，唯有那藉著愛表達出來的信，才有用處。

這樣，沒有受割禮的人，如果遵守律法所規定的，他雖然沒有受過割禮，不也算是受過割禮的嗎？

受割禮或不受割禮，都算不得甚麼，要緊的是作新造的人。
