But David was not able to go there to inquire of God, because he was terrified by the drawn sword of the angel of the Lord.

I looked up and saw a man dressed in linen clothing, with a belt of pure gold around his waist.

Manoah ran back with his wife and asked,“ Are you the man who spoke to my wife the other day?”“ Yes,” he replied,“ I am.”

This left Jacob all alone in the camp, and a man came and wrestled with him until the dawn began to break.When the man saw that he would not win the match, he touched Jacob’s hip and wrenched it out of its socket.Then the man said,“ Let me go, for the dawn is breaking!” But Jacob said,“ I will not let you go unless you bless me.”“ What is your name?” the man asked. He replied,“ Jacob.”“ Your name will no longer be Jacob,” the man told him.“ From now on you will be called Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have won.”“ Please tell me your name,” Jacob said.“ Why do you want to know my name?” the man replied. Then he blessed Jacob there.Jacob named the place Peniel( which means“ face of God”), for he said,“ I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been spared.”

In a vision during the night, I saw a man sitting on a red horse that was standing among some myrtle trees in a small valley. Behind him were riders on red, brown, and white horses.

As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white robed men suddenly stood among them.

Then the Lord spoke to the angel, who put the sword back into its sheath.

David looked up and saw the angel of the Lord standing between heaven and earth with his sword drawn, reaching out over Jerusalem. So David and the leaders of Israel put on burlap to show their deep distress and fell face down on the ground.And David said to God,“ I am the one who called for the census! I am the one who has sinned and done wrong! But these people are as innocent as sheep— what have they done? O Lord my God, let your anger fall against me and my family, but do not destroy your people.”

Then Manoah prayed to the Lord, saying,“ Lord, please let the man of God come back to us again and give us more instructions about this son who is to be born.”God answered Manoah’s prayer, and the angel of God appeared once again to his wife as she was sitting in the field. But her husband, Manoah, was not with her.

But the Lord said to Joshua,“ I have given you Jericho, its king, and all its strong warriors.

As I looked up, I saw a ram with two long horns standing beside the river. One of the horns was longer than the other, even though it had grown later than the other one.

Then Jacob looked up and saw Esau coming with his 400 men. So he divided the children among Leah, Rachel, and his two servant wives.

and he said to his wife,“ We will certainly die, for we have seen God!”

Then Esau looked at the women and children and asked,“ Who are these people with you?”“ These are the children God has graciously given to me, your servant,” Jacob replied.

David went out to meet them and said,“ If you have come in peace to help me, we are friends. But if you have come to betray me to my enemies when I am innocent, then may the God of our ancestors see it and punish you.”Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, the leader of the Thirty, and he said,“ We are yours, David! We are on your side, son of Jesse. Peace and prosperity be with you, and success to all who help you, for your God is the one who helps you.” So David let them join him, and he made them officers over his troops.

And standing in the middle of the lampstands was someone like the Son of Man. He was wearing a long robe with a gold sash across his chest.
