“ Now then,” said Joshua,“ throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

“ Now then,” said Joshua,“ throw away the statues of the gods that are among you. People from other lands serve those gods. Give yourselves completely to the Lord. He is the God of Israel.”

He said,“ Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

“ All right then,” Joshua said,“ destroy the idols among you, and turn your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

“ Then get rid of the foreign gods that are among you and turn your hearts to the LORD, the God of Israel.”

“ Now then, do away with the foreign gods which are in your midst, and incline your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

“ Now therefore,” he said,“ put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord God of Israel.”

Now therefore put away, said he, the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto Jehovah, the God of Israel.

“ Then get rid of the foreign gods that are among you and offer your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

Now therefore put away,[ said he], the strange gods which[ are] among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.

Joshua said,“ Now put aside the foreign gods that are among you and submit to the LORD God of Israel.”

“ Now therefore put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to Yahweh, the God of Israel.”

“ Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. (niv)

Do I mean then that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons.You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons. (niv)

What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:“ I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”Therefore,“ Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”And,“ I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” (niv)

So Samuel said to all the Israelites,“ If you are returning to the Lord with all your hearts, then rid yourselves of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths and commit yourselves to the Lord and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.”So the Israelites put away their Baals and Ashtoreths, and served the Lord only. (niv)

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,for our“ God is a consuming fire.” (niv)

So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him,“ Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes.Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone.”So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods they had and the rings in their ears, and Jacob buried them under the oak at Shechem. But the Israelites said to the Lord,“ We have sinned. Do with us whatever you think best, but please rescue us now.”Then they got rid of the foreign gods among them and served the Lord. And he could bear Israel’s misery no longer. (niv)

Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold. (niv)

Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. (niv)

Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil so that I take part in wicked deeds along with those who are evildoers; do not let me eat their delicacies. (niv)

Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him:“ Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips.Assyria cannot save us; we will not mount warhorses. We will never again say‘ Our gods’ to what our own hands have made, for in you the fatherless find compassion.” (niv)

May he turn our hearts to him, to walk in obedience to him and keep the commands, decrees and laws he gave our ancestors. (niv)

Ephraim, what more have I to do with idols? I will answer him and care for him. I am like a flourishing juniper; your fruitfulness comes from me.” (niv)
