約書亞對眾民說：『永恆主以色列的上帝這麼說：古時你們的先祖、亞伯拉罕的父親、也就是拿鶴的父親、他拉，住在大河那邊；他們事奉別的神。

Joshua said to all the people,“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:‘ Long ago your ancestors, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods.

Joshua spoke to all the people. He said,“ The Lord is the God of Israel. He says,‘ Long ago your people lived east of the Euphrates River. They worshiped other gods there. Your people included Terah. He was the father of Abraham and Nahor.

And Joshua said to all the people,“ Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel,‘ Long ago, your fathers lived beyond the Euphrates, Terah, the father of Abraham and of Nahor; and they served other gods.

Joshua said to the people,“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Long ago your ancestors, including Terah, the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River, and they worshiped other gods.

Joshua said to all the people,“ This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says:‘ Long ago your ancestors, including Terah, the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods.

And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt of old time beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor: and they served other gods.

Joshua said to all the people,“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:‘ Long ago your ancestors, including Terah, the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods.

And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time,[ even] Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.

Joshua told all the people,“ Here is what the LORD God of Israel says:‘ In the distant past your ancestors lived beyond the Euphrates River, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor. They worshiped other gods,

Joshua said to all the people,“ Yahweh, the God of Israel, says,‘ Your fathers lived of old time beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor. They served other gods.

願亞伯拉罕的上帝和拿鶴的上帝，他們父親的上帝，在我們之間判斷是非。』雅各就指着他父親以撒所敬畏的來起誓。

現在你既渴想着你父親的家，急地要去，為甚麼又偷了我的神像呢？』

倘若你們以事奉永恆主為不好，那麼你們今日就可以選擇你們所要事奉的：到底是你們列祖在大河那邊所事奉的神呢？還是你們住於其地的亞摩利人的神呢？至於我和我的家呢、我們是必定事奉永恆主的。』

他們就把手裏所有的外人神像、和他們耳朵上的環子給了雅各；雅各把這些東西都埋在示劍附近的聖篤耨香樹底下。

當時拉班剪羊毛去了；拉結偷了他父親的家神像。

要瞻仰你們的祖先亞伯拉罕、和那生你們、的撒拉；因為亞伯拉罕獨自一人時、我呼召了他，賜福與他，使他人數增多。

你要在永恆主你的上帝面前應聲地說：「我的祖宗原是個飄泊流亡的亞蘭人；他下到埃及，寄居在那裏，人數稀少；在那裏竟成了一國，又大又強盛，人數又多。

說：主永恆主對耶路撒冷這麼說：你的根原你的出生是從迦南地而來的；你父親是亞摩利人，你母親是赫人。

至於你的神像呢，你在誰身上找着，誰就不該活着；當着我們弟兄面前、你認一認；在我這裏有甚麼是你的，你只管拿走。』雅各原不知道拉結偷了神像。

他拉活到七十歲，生了亞伯蘭，拿鶴、哈蘭。以下這些人是他拉的後代。他拉生亞伯蘭、拿鶴、哈蘭；哈蘭生羅得。哈蘭死在他親族之地、迦勒底的吾珥，比他的父親先死。亞伯蘭和拿鶴各娶了妻：亞伯蘭的妻子名叫撒萊；拿鶴的妻子名叫密迦，是哈蘭的女兒；哈蘭是密迦和亦迦的父親。撒萊不生育，沒有孩子。他拉帶着他的兒子亞伯蘭、和他的孫子、哈蘭的兒子羅得、跟他兒媳婦亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊，領他們出了迦勒底人的吾珥，要往迦南地去；他們走到喀蘭，就住在那裏。他拉在世的日子共有二百零五年；他拉死在喀蘭。永恆主對亞伯蘭說：『你要離開你本地、你親族、你父親的家，往我所要指示你的地去。
