“‘ Then you crossed the Jordan and came to Jericho. The citizens of Jericho fought against you, as did also the Amorites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hittites, Girgashites, Hivites and Jebusites, but I gave them into your hands.

“‘ Then you went across the Jordan River. You came to Jericho. Its people fought against you. So did the Amorites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hittites, Girgashites, Hivites and Jebusites. But I handed them over to you.

And you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho, and the leaders of Jericho fought against you, and also the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. And I gave them into your hand.

於是民速濟河、舁法匱之祭司立於約但河中、迨耶和華所諭約書亞之命、摩西所傳約書亞之言、盡遵行之、以畢其事。民既盡濟、舁耶和華法匱之祭司亦濟斯河、為民目擊。流便伽得二支派、及馬拿西支派之半、整其行伍、於同儕前濟河、從摩西所言、

秋約但河水漲溢、民離幕、欲濟約但、舁法匱之祭司、行於其前、至約但河、足濡於水濱、

我使必導爾入亞摩哩、赫、比哩洗、迦南、希未、耶布士諸族之地、翦滅其眾。

蓋爾之上帝耶和華、使河水涸於民前、待民悉濟、如使紅海水涸、待民悉濟然。

滄海因之而中判、約但因之而回流兮、

滅迦南地七種民、乃鬮分其地與之、

耶路撒冷王、亞多尼西特聞約書亞取埃而盡滅之、如昔伐耶利哥及其王、今伐埃與其王然、亦聞基遍民與以色列族修好、而居其中。知基遍邑如王畿、較之於埃、邑大人強、故王與民懼甚。耶路撒冷王亞多尼西特遣人至希伯崙王和咸、耶末王庇蘭、拉吉王耶非亞、厄倫王底必、告之曰、爾曹咸至、助我擊基遍、蓋基遍人與約書亞以色列族修好。亞摩哩五王、即耶路撒冷王、希伯崙王、耶末王、拉吉王、厄倫王、集眾、往基遍地、建營而搦戰。○基遍人遣使至吉甲營、見約書亞、曰、速至助我、勿緩、蓋居山中之亞摩哩王、集以攻我。約書亞率武士勁旅、自吉甲往迎。耶和華諭約書亞曰、勿懼、我以此軍悉付於爾、無一能禦爾者。約書亞自吉甲終夜以行、猝然侵敵。耶和華使敵潰亂於以色列族前、在基遍降以大災、以色列族追之、至伯和倫岡、擊之在亞西加馬基大。敵方逃遁、下伯和倫岡、入亞西加時、耶和華自天降大雹擊敵、傷雹而死、較以色列族以刃殺者尤眾。

維彼選民、導至聖地、將得斯山、以為恆業兮、異邦之民、悉彼驅逐、所得之業、以繩量度、俾以色列之支派、各居帷幕兮。

以色列族圍耶利哥、故耶利哥鍵閉其城、無人出入。耶和華諭約書亞曰、我以耶利哥及王、與勁旅、悉畀於爾。惟爾武士、環攻其城、日恆一巡、周行其外、歷至六日、祭司七人、以角七、行於法匱前、越至七日、巡城凡七、祭司吹角、其聲清越、爾聞之、使民號呼、城垣傾圮、民得直進。嫩之子約書亞召祭司曰、當舁法匱、爾曹七人、以角七、行於耶和華法匱前、諭民曰、當環其城、使凡預備以戰者、行於耶和華法匱前。約書亞既命諸民、祭司七人、以角七、行於耶和華前、而吹其角、法匱從行於後。祭司吹角而行、預備以戰者先進、後軍繼至。約書亞曾諭民曰、勿號呼、勿言語、勿使聲聞、待我使爾號呼、則號呼。○耶和華之法匱巡城、環行一次、則反營壘宿焉。詰朝約書亞夙興、祭司舁耶和華法匱、祭司七人、以角七、行於法匱前吹角、預備以戰者先進、後軍繼至、祭司仍吹其角。至二日巡城一次、後反營壘、如是者六日。越至七日、黎明夙興、循例巡城凡七。越至七次、祭司吹角、約書亞諭民曰、今當號呼、蓋耶和華以斯城畀爾。必以城邑、及其所有、獻耶和華、而盡滅之、惟妓喇合、曾匿我使、故彼與全家、可存其生、所獻與所滅者勿取、恐爾亦為盡滅、使以色列族之營壘服詛、而累於禍。金銀銅鐵之器、必獻耶和華、貯其府庫。於是祭司吹角、民聞之則號呼、其聲清越、城垣傾圮、民得前進、而取其城、盡滅所有、戮男女老幼、牛羊與驢。約書亞告二偵者曰、入妓之室、取其人出、與凡所有、循爾所誓之言。偵者入、取喇合、及父母兄弟親戚、與凡所有、置之城外、居以色列族營壘。以色列族燬其城、惟金銀銅鐵諸器、貯於耶和華府庫。約書亞因妓喇合曾匿所遣窺察耶利哥之使、故特救之、及其眷聚、使居以色列族中、至於今日。○於是約書亞誓曰、凡建耶利哥、當服詛於耶和華前、築基時、必喪長子、置門時、必喪季子。耶和華左右約書亞、聲名洋溢乎四方。

滄海何為中判兮、約但何為回流兮、

使有異邦、其所經營之地、彼得而享之兮、

厥後爾之上帝耶和華、導爾入所得之土、驅逐赫人、革迦西人、亞摩哩人、迦南人比哩洗人、希未人、耶布士人、此七族較爾強大、
