But make sure that in your hearts you honor Christ as Lord. Always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks you about the hope you have. Be ready to give the reason for it. But do it gently and with respect.

But choose men of ability from all the people. They must have respect for God. You must be able to trust them. They must not try to get money by cheating others. Appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.Let them serve the people as judges. But have them bring every hard case to you. They can decide the easy ones themselves. That will make your load lighter. They will share it with you.If this is what God wants and if you do it, then you will be able to carry the load. To answer before listening is foolish and shameful.

My dear brothers and sisters, pay attention to what I say. Everyone should be quick to listen. But they should be slow to speak. They should be slow to get angry.

People make plans in their hearts. But the Lord puts the correct answer on their tongues.

An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.

A gentle answer turns anger away. But mean words stir up anger.
