Then Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh replied to the heads of the clans of Israel:

Then the tribes of Reuben and Gad and half of the tribe of Manasseh replied. They answered the leaders of the family groups of Israel.

Then the people of Reuben, the people of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh said in answer to the heads of the families of Israel,

Then the people of Reuben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh answered the heads of the clans of Israel:

The Reubenites, Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh answered the heads of the Israelite clans,

Then the sons of Reuben, the sons of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh answered and spoke to the heads of the families of Israel.

Then the children of Reuben, the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh answered and said to the heads of the divisions of Israel:

Then the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half- tribe of Manasseh answered, and spake unto the heads of the thousands of Israel,

Then the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half- tribe of Manasseh answered, and spoke to the heads of the thousands of Israel,

只要心裏承認基督為主，尊奉為聖。凡有人請你們說明你們心中所盼望的之緣由，你們總要老準備着回護答覆他。不過也要帶着柔和與敬畏的心，

你並且要從眾民之間物色有才德敬畏上帝的人、可信可靠、恨惡不義之財的人，設立他們為千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長、十夫長，去管理眾民；叫他們隨時審判人民；所有大的案件、他們要呈到這裏來，所有小的案件、他們可以自己判斷：這樣，你就輕省些，他們也可以和你一同擔當。你若這樣行，上帝也這樣吩咐你，你就能站得住，這眾民也就能夠安安然然回到他們的地方去。』於是摩西聽從他岳父的話，都照他岳父所說的去行。摩西從全以色列眾人中揀選了有才德的人，讓他們做人民的首領，做千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長、十夫長。

但是你、伯利恆以法他啊，你在猶大諸鄉村中雖然細小，將來必有一位從你那裏為我而出，在以色列中做統治者；他的根源出於亙古，出於往古之日。

彼得開始按着次序對他們敘陳說：

話未聽完就先回答的，那是他的愚妄和羞辱。

我親愛的弟兄們，你們要明白。各人要敏於聽，不要急於說，不要急於發怒。

心裏所籌劃的在乎人；口舌之應對乃由於永恆主。

應對之話恰當的、猶如人與人親嘴。

柔和的回答使烈怒消退；傷人的話語能激起忿怒。
