Then Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh replied to the heads of the clans of Israel:

要心裡尊基督為主。如果有人問起你們心中的盼望，你們要隨時準備答覆，

此外，要在百姓當中挑選一些敬畏上帝、有才幹、誠實、正直、憎惡不義之財的人，派他們做千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長和十夫長，管理百姓。讓他們隨時為百姓判案，處理小糾紛，遇到大事才由你審理。有他們分擔你的責任，你會更輕省。如果你這樣做，並且上帝也這樣吩咐你，你就能承受得住，百姓也可以平安地回家。」於是，摩西接納了岳父的建議，依言而行，從百姓中挑選有才幹的人，委派他們做千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長和十夫長管理百姓。

以法他的伯利恆啊，你在猶大各城中毫不起眼，但將有一位從你那裡出來，為我統治以色列；祂的根源自亙古，來自太初。

彼得就把事情的經過一一向他們解釋，說：

未聽先答的人，自顯愚昧和羞辱。

我親愛的弟兄姊妹，請記住：每個人都要快快地聽，慢慢地說，慢慢地動怒。

心中的策劃在於人，應對之言來自耶和華。

誠實的回答如同友好的親吻。

溫和的回答平息怒氣，粗暴的言詞激起憤怒。
