And they said to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan,“ The Lord commanded through Moses that we be given cities to dwell in, along with their pasturelands for our livestock.”

以色列全會眾都聚集在示羅，把會幕設立在那裏。那地已經被他們征服了。

「你吩咐以色列人，要從所得為業的地中把一些城給利未人居住，也要把這些城四圍的郊野給利未人。這些城鎮要歸他們居住，郊外可以給他們牧放牛羊、牲畜和所有的動物。你們給利未人城的郊外，要從城牆量起，四圍往外量一千肘。你們要往東量二千肘，往南量二千肘，往西量二千肘，往北量二千肘為邊界，以城為中心；這城鎮的郊外要歸給他們。」「你們給利未人的城鎮中，要設立六座逃城，讓誤殺人的可以逃到那裏。此外還要給他們四十二座城。所以，給利未人的城一共有四十八座，連同城的郊外都給他們。從以色列人所得的產業中給利未人的這些城鎮，多的要多給，少的要少給；各支派要按照所承受為業之地的多少把城鎮給利未人。」

途中不要帶行囊，不要帶兩件內衣，也不要帶鞋子和手杖，因為工人得飲食是應當的。

在真道上受教的，要把一切美好的東西與施教的人分享。

善於督導教會的長老，尤其是勤勞講道教導人的，應該得到加倍的敬奉。因為經上說：「牛在踹穀的時候，不可籠住牠的嘴」；又說：「工人得工資是應當的。」

你們獻給耶和華的聖地要長二萬五千肘，寬一萬肘。這聖地要歸祭司，北長二萬五千肘，西寬一萬肘，東寬一萬肘，南長二萬五千肘。耶和華的聖所當在其中。這地要歸撒督的子孫中成為聖的祭司，他們謹守我所吩咐的；當以色列人走迷的時候，他們不像那些利未人走迷了。在聖地中要特別保留一份歸他們，為至聖，緊鄰着利未人的地界。利未人所得的地長二萬五千肘，寬一萬肘，與祭司的地界相等，都長二萬五千肘，寬一萬肘。這地不可賣，不可換；這上好的部分不可轉讓給別人，因為它歸耶和華為聖。剩下的地長二萬五千肘、寬五千肘，要作公用，為造城、蓋房、空地之用；城要在中間。以下是城的大小：北面四千五百肘，南面四千五百肘，東面四千五百肘，西面四千五百肘。城要有空地，向北二百五十肘，向南二百五十肘，向東二百五十肘，向西二百五十肘。靠着聖地並排剩餘的，東長一萬肘，西長一萬肘；它與聖地並排，其中所出產的要作城內工人的食物。
