“ As for all the inhabitants of the mountain regions from Lebanon to Misrephoth Maim, that is, all the Sidonians, I myself will drive them out before the Israelites. Be sure to allocate this land to Israel for an inheritance, as I have instructed you,

“ I myself will drive out all the people who live in the mountain areas. Those areas reach from Lebanon to Misrephoth Maim. They include the area where all the people of Sidon live. I myself will drive out those people to make room for the Israelites. Make sure you set that land apart for Israel. Give it to them as their share, just as I have directed you.

And Jehovah delivered them into the hand of Israel, and they smote them, and chased them unto great Sidon, and unto Misrephoth- maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.

know for a certainty that Jehovah your God will no more drive these nations from out of your sight; but they shall be a snare and a trap unto you, and a scourge in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which Jehovah your God hath given you.

I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations that Joshua left when he died;that by them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of Jehovah to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.So Jehovah left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.

And ye shall inherit the land by lot according to your families; to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer thou shalt give the less inheritance: wheresoever the lot falleth to any man, that shall be his; according to the tribes of your fathers shall ye inherit.

In that day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:the Kenite, and the Kenizzite, and the Kadmonite,and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Rephaim,and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Girgashite, and the Jebusite.

And these are the inheritances which the children of Israel took in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed unto them,by the lot of their inheritance, as Jehovah commanded by Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half- tribe.
