He and his people were very much alarmed at this, because Gibeon was an important city, like one of the royal cities; it was larger than Ai, and all its men were good fighters.

各邦各族聽見這些事就發抖，非利士人也痛苦不堪，以東的族長惶恐，摩押的英雄顫慄，迦南的居民都膽戰心驚。驚駭恐懼籠罩著他們。耶和華啊，你臂膀的大能嚇得他們僵立如石，直到你的子民都安然走過，直到你買贖的子民都安然走過。

又說：「耶和華確實將那整片土地交給我們了，那裡的居民聽到我們的消息，都嚇得膽戰心驚。」

地上的君王、顯貴、將領、富豪、有勢力的、一切奴隸和自由人都躲藏在山洞裡和岩穴間。他們哀求群山和岩石，說：「倒下來遮蓋我們，將我們藏起來吧！我們不敢面對寶座上的那位和羔羊的烈怒啊！因為祂們發烈怒的大日子到了，誰能站得住呢？」

「我知道耶和華已經把這地方賜給你們，我們十分害怕。這裡所有的居民都嚇得膽戰心驚。因為你們離開埃及過紅海的時候，耶和華怎樣使紅海在你們面前成為乾地，你們怎樣對付約旦河東的兩個亞摩利王西宏和噩，怎樣把他們徹底消滅，我們都聽說了。我們聽了這些事，感到心驚膽戰、勇氣盡失。你們的上帝耶和華是天地萬物的上帝。我既然恩待了你們，現在請你們憑耶和華向我起誓，你們也照樣恩待我家，並且給我一個可靠的憑據，保證讓我的父母、兄弟、姐妹和他們所有的親人免於一死。」

惡人所怕的必臨到他，義人的心願必得實現。

天下萬民將看出你們是耶和華的子民，並懼怕你們。

大衛對亞吉說：「如果你開恩，就讓我到郊野的一個城邑去住吧，何必讓僕人與王一同住在都城呢？」

那時，約押正攻打亞捫人的都城拉巴。

只有可怕的審判和燒滅敵對者的烈火等候我們。

世上的君王一同聚集，前來攻城。他們看見這城後，大驚失色，慌忙逃跑。他們被恐懼籠罩，痛苦如分娩的婦人。

因此，你們遭遇災難時，我必發笑；驚恐臨到你們時，我必嗤笑——那時，恐懼如風暴襲擊你們，災難如旋風臨到你們，憂愁和苦難吞沒你們。

落在永活上帝的手中是可怕的！
