他在他们面前赶出外邦人，用绳子将外邦的地量给他们为业，叫以色列支派的人住在他们的帐棚里。

耶和华你神必将他们交给你，大大地扰乱他们，直到他们灭绝了；

那时，巴比伦王的军队正攻打耶路撒冷，又攻打犹大所剩下的城邑，就是拉吉和亚西加。原来犹大的坚固城只剩下这两座。

于是耶和华使古实人败在亚撒和犹大人面前，古实人就逃跑了；

他们在以色列人面前逃跑，正在伯和仑下坡的时候，耶和华从天上降大冰雹在他们身上，直降到亚西加，打死他们。被冰雹打死的，比以色列人用刀杀死的还多。

当日，约书亚夺了玛基大，用刀击杀城中的人和王；将其中一切人口尽行杀灭，没有留下一个。他待玛基大王，像从前待耶利哥王一样。

一队往伯和仑去，一队往洗波音谷对面的地境向旷野去。

撒母耳正献燔祭的时候，非利士人前来要与以色列人争战。当日，耶和华大发雷声，惊乱非利士人，他们就败在以色列人面前。以色列人从米斯巴出来，追赶非利士人，击杀他们，直到伯甲的下边。撒母耳将一块石头立在米斯巴和善的中间，给石头起名叫以便以谢，说：“到如今耶和华都帮助我们。”

因为他们不是靠自己的刀剑得地土，也不是靠自己的膀臂得胜，乃是靠你的右手、你的膀臂，和你脸上的亮光，因为你喜悦他们。

基低罗、伯大衮、拿玛、玛基大，共十六座城，还有属城的村庄。
