But let people and animals be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence.

Let people and animals alike be covered with the clothing of sadness. All of you must call out to God with all your hearts. Stop doing what is evil. Don’t harm others.

這網不能做衣服遮蓋你們。你們行為邪惡，做事殘暴。

他們只好呼求耶和華，說：「耶和華啊，求你不要因這個人的性命而毀滅我們，不要因我們殺害無辜的人而怪罪我們，因為你耶和華按自己的旨意行事。」

你們要洗淨自己，停止作惡，不要讓我再看見你們的惡行。你們要學習行善，追求正義，幫助受欺壓的，替孤兒辯護，為寡婦伸冤。」耶和華說：「來吧，我們彼此理論！你們的罪雖如猩紅，也必潔白如雪；你們的罪雖如緋紅，也必白如羊毛。如果你們願意聽從，就必享用這地方的美好出產。

船長來到約拿身邊對他說：「你這個人，怎麼這時候還在睡覺！快起來祈求你的神吧，也許你的神會憐憫我們，饒我們一命。」

因此，你去告訴猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民，『耶和華說，我正計劃降災禍懲罰你們。你們要離開罪惡，改邪歸正。』

你們要結出與悔改相稱的果子。

倘若惡人離惡行義，他必救回自己的性命。因為他醒悟過來，痛改前非，必能活著，不致死亡。

所以你們要悔改，歸向上帝，祂將除去你們一切的罪惡，

我先在大馬士革，然後到耶路撒冷、猶太全境和外族人當中勸人悔改歸向上帝，行事為人要與悔改的心相稱。

耶和華啊！我在絕望的深淵中向你呼求。主啊，求你垂聽我的呼求，側耳聽我的祈求。

「惡人若肯痛改前非，遵守我的律例，秉公行義，就必活著，不致死亡。我必不追究他以前所犯的一切罪行，他必因行事正直而活著。主耶和華說，我難道喜歡惡人死亡嗎？我豈不是更願他們痛改前非並活著嗎？義人若棄善行惡，與惡人同流合污，這人豈能活著？他從前的義行不會被記念，他必因自己的背信和罪惡而滅亡。

你要告訴他們，主耶和華說，「我憑我的永恆起誓，我絕不喜歡惡人死亡，我更願意惡人改邪歸正，得以存活。以色列人啊，回頭吧！回頭吧！改邪歸正吧！何必自取滅亡呢？」』

「『我要的禁食是，除去罪惡的鎖鏈，解開軛上的繩索，折斷一切的軛，使受欺壓的人得到自由，

王啊，請接受我的勸諫，你要秉公行義，以斷絕罪惡；憐憫窮人，以除掉罪過。這樣，你的國運也許可以延續。」

「所以主耶和華說，『以色列人啊，我必按你們各人的行為審判你們。你們要悔改，痛改前非，使你們不致死在罪惡中。你們要離棄從前所有的罪惡，洗心革面。以色列人啊！你們何必走向滅亡呢？』主耶和華說，『我斷不喜歡任何人死亡，你們要悔改，以便存活。』」
