他们又对他说：“我们该对你怎么做，才能使海为我们平静下来呢？”因为海浪越来越汹涌了。

他們又問他：「我們該對你怎麼做，才能使海為我們平靜下來呢？」因為海浪越來越洶湧了。

又謂之曰、我當何以待爾、使海為我而恬靜乎、因海久而愈盪、

又曰、今海震盪愈甚、當若何待爾、則風浪可息。

又曰、今海之波濤洶湧已甚、當若何待爾、使海恬靜乎、

The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him,“ What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?”

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you, that the sea may quiet down for us?” For the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

And since the storm was getting worse all the time, they asked him,“ What should we do to you to stop this storm?”

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you so that the sea will calm down for us?” For the sea was getting worse and worse.

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you so that the sea will become calm for us?”— for the sea was becoming increasingly stormy.

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you that the sea may be calm for us?”— for the sea was growing more tempestuous.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you to calm this sea that’s against us?” For the sea was getting worse and worse.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous.

Because the storm was growing worse and worse, they said to him,“ What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?”

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you, that the sea may be calm to us?” For the sea grew more and more stormy.

大卫在位的日子，有连续三年的饥荒；大卫就寻求耶和华的面。耶和华说：“这是因为扫罗和扫罗家流人血的罪，因为他曾经杀死了基遍人。”原来基遍人不是以色列人，而是亚摩利人中余剩的后人。以色列人曾经起誓与他们立约，但扫罗却为以色列人和犹大人发热心，设法要击杀他们。王把基遍人召了来，对他们说话。大卫问基遍人：“我能为你们作什么？我该用什么来赎罪，使你们为耶和华的产业祝福呢？”基遍人回答大卫：“我们与扫罗和他家的事，都与金子银子没有关系；我们也不愿以色列中有一个人被杀。”大卫问：“那么，你们说，我当为你们作什么？”他们回答王：“从前破坏我们，谋害我们，要消灭我们，使我们不能在以色列境内立足的那人，现在请你把他子孙中的七个男丁交给我们，我们可以在基遍耶和华的山上，在耶和华面前把他们处决。”王说：“我必交给你们。”

大卫早晨起来；耶和华的话临到迦得先知，就是大卫的先见，说：“你去告诉大卫说：‘耶和华这样说：我给你三个选择，你要选择一个，我好向你施行。’”于是迦得来见大卫，问他说：“你要国中三年（按照《马索拉文本》，“三年”作“七年”；现参照《七十士译本》翻译；参代上21:12）的饥荒呢？或是要在你敌人面前逃跑，被追赶三个月呢？或是要国中有三天的瘟疫呢？现在你要想想，决定我该用什么话回覆那差我来的。”

我朝见耶和华，在至高的神面前叩拜，当献上什么呢？我朝见他的时候，当献上燔祭，当献上一岁的牛犊吗？耶和华喜悦千千的公羊，或是万万的油河吗？为我的过犯，我可以献上我的长子吗？为我的罪恶，献上我亲生的孩子吗？

非利士人把众祭司和占卜的都召了来，问他们：“我们应该怎样处理耶和华的约柜呢？请告诉我们，要怎样才能把它送回原处呢？”他们回答：“你们把以色列神的约柜送回去的时候，不可空空地把它送回去，却要偿还赔罪的礼物，这样，你们就可以得着医治，也可以知道，为什么他的手没有离开你们。”
