He’s the only one who can spread out the heavens. He alone can walk on the waves of the ocean.

The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tentand lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

can you join him in spreading out the skies, hard as a mirror of cast bronze?

A prophecy: The word of the Lord concerning Israel. The Lord, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within a person, declares:

Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified.“ It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.But Jesus immediately said to them:“ Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”“ Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied,“ tell me to come to you on the water.”“ Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out,“ Lord, save me!”

“ Tell them this:‘ These gods, who did not make the heavens and the earth, will perish from the earth and from under the heavens.’”

when I said,‘ This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt’?

The seas have lifted up, Lord, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea— the Lord on high is mighty.

And God said,“ Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.”So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so.

This is what God the Lord says— the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it:

When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were frightened.

Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.
