Like a servant longing for the evening shadow, and like a hired man looking for his wages,

像奴仆切慕黑影，像雇工人盼望工价；

像奴仆切慕阴凉，像雇工等待工钱，

像奴仆切慕阴凉，像雇工等待工钱，

他像切望阴凉的奴隶，又如盼望报酬的雇工。

正如仆人切慕暮影，又像雇工盼望工价。

像奴僕切慕黑影，像雇工人盼望工價；

像奴僕切慕陰涼，像雇工等待工錢，

像奴僕切慕陰涼，像雇工等待工錢，

他像切望陰涼的奴隸，又如盼望報酬的雇工。

正如僕人切慕暮影，又像雇工盼望工價。

正像奴僕喘息渴慕着暮影，像雇工人直等着工資；

奴冀昏暮、傭望工值、

如僕之冀暮、如傭之望值、

奴慕涼陰、傭人望工值、

Like a slave longing for the evening shadows, or a hired laborer waiting to be paid,

I’ve been like a slave who longs for the evening shadows to come. I’ve been like a hired worker who is waiting to be paid.

Like a slave who longs for the shadow, and like a hired hand who looks for his wages,

like a worker who longs for the shade, like a servant waiting to be paid.

Like a slave he longs for shade; like a hired worker he waits for his pay.

As a slave pants for the shade, And as a hired worker who eagerly waits for his wages,

Like a servant who earnestly desires the shade, And like a hired man who eagerly looks for his wages,

As a servant that earnestly desireth the shadow, And as a hireling that looketh for his wages:

Like a slave he longs for shade; like a hired man he waits for his pay.

As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for[ the reward of] his work:

As a servant who earnestly desires the shadow, as a hireling who looks for his wages,

You must not oppress your neighbor or commit robbery against him. You must not withhold the wages of the hired laborer overnight until morning.

You must pay his wage that very day before the sun sets, for he is poor and his life depends on it. Otherwise he will cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be guilty of sin.

They will say,‘ Prepare to do battle against it! Come on! Let’s attack it at noon!’ But later they will say,‘ Oh, oh! Too bad! The day is almost over and the shadows of evening are getting long.

“ I will come to you in judgment. I will be quick to testify against those who practice divination, those who commit adultery, those who break promises, and those who exploit workers, widows, and orphans, who refuse to help the immigrant and in this way show they do not fear me,” says the LORD who rules over all.

I spread my hands out to you in prayer; my soul thirsts for you in a parched land.

I open my mouth and pant, because I long for your commands.

Look, the pay you have held back from the workers who mowed your fields cries out against you, and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.
