Is your arm as powerful as mine is? Can your voice thunder as mine does?

Have you an arm like God, and can you thunder with a voice like his?

Are you as strong as God? Can you thunder with a voice like his?

After that a voice roars; he thunders with an exalted voice, and he does not hold back his lightning bolts when his voice is heard.God thunders with his voice in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.

Your arm is powerful, your hand strong, your right hand victorious.

Now in this, you are not right– I answer you, for God is greater than a human being.Why do you contend against him, that he does not answer all a person’s words?

my anxiety intensified. As I thought about it, I became impatient. Finally I spoke these words:“ O LORD, help me understand my mortality and the brevity of life! Let me realize how quickly my life will pass!Look, you make my days short-lived, and my life span is nothing from your perspective. Surely all people, even those who seem secure, are nothing but vapor.Surely people go through life as mere ghosts. Surely they accumulate worthless wealth without knowing who will eventually haul it away.”But now, O Lord, upon what am I relying? You are my only hope!Deliver me from all my sins of rebellion! Do not make me the object of fools’ insults!I am silent and cannot open my mouth because of what you have done.

The LORD’s shout is heard over the water; the majestic God thunders, the LORD appears over the surging water.

You crushed the Proud One and killed it; with your strong arm you scattered your enemies.

Would he contend with me with great power? No, he would only pay attention to me.

Your right hand, O LORD, was majestic in power, your right hand, O LORD, shattered the enemy.

Or are we trying to provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we really stronger than he is?

He is wise in heart and mighty in strength– who has resisted him and remained safe?

One who argues with his creator is in grave danger, one who is like a mere shard among the other shards on the ground! The clay should not say to the potter,“ What in the world are you doing? Your work lacks skill!”
