You ask him,‘ What good is it for me not to sin? What do I get by not sinning?’

才说，‘这与我有什么益处？我不犯罪比犯罪有什么好处呢？’

你说：‘这对你有什么益处？我不犯罪有什么好处呢？’

你说：‘这对你有什么益处？我不犯罪有什么好处呢？’

你还说，‘这与我何干？我不犯罪又有何益处？’

你还说：‘你有什么益处呢？我不犯罪有什么好处？’

才說這與我有甚麼益處？我不犯罪比犯罪有甚麼好處呢？

你說：『這對你有甚麼益處？我不犯罪有甚麼好處呢？』

你說：『這對你有甚麼益處？我不犯罪有甚麼好處呢？』

你還說，『這與我何干？我不犯罪又有何益處？』

你還說：‘你有甚麼益處呢？我不犯罪有甚麼好處？’

因為你心裏說：「你得了甚麼益處呢？我不犯罪比犯罪有甚麼好處呢？」

致雲、我何所得、較之干罪、何所益乎、

Yet you ask him,‘ What profit is it to me, and what do I gain by not sinning?’

that you ask,‘ What advantage have I? How am I better off than if I had sinned?’

For you also ask,‘ What’s in it for me? What’s the use of living a righteous life?’

For you ask,“ What does it profit you, and what benefit comes to me, if I do not sin?”

For you say,‘ What advantage will it be to You? What benefit will I have, more than if I had sinned?’

For you say,‘ What advantage will it be to You? What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned?’

That thou sayest, What advantage will it be unto thee? And, What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned?

For you ask,“ What does it profit You, and what benefit comes to me, if I do not sin?”

For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee?[ and], What profit shall I have,[ if I be cleansed] from my sin?

But you say,‘ What will it profit you,’ and,‘ What do I gain by not sinning?’

that you ask,‘ What advantage will it be to you? What profit will I have, more than if I had sinned?’

He asks,‘ What good is it to try to please God?’

It seems as if I have kept my heart pure for no reason. It didn’t do me any good to wash my hands to show that I wasn’t guilty of doing anything wrong.

“ Even though I’m honest, I’m not concerned about myself. I hate my own life.It all amounts to the same thing. That’s why I say,‘ God destroys honest people and sinful people alike.’

“ You have said,‘ It is useless to serve God. What do we gain by obeying his laws? And what do we get by pretending to be sad in front of the Lord?

What do we receive from God above? What do we get from the Mighty One in heaven?

Who is the Mighty One? Why should we serve him? What would we get if we prayed to him?’

Suppose I clean myself with soap. Suppose I wash my hands with cleanser.Even then you would throw me into a muddy pit. And even my clothes would hate me.

If I were guilty, how terrible that would be for me! Even if I haven’t sinned, I can’t be proud of what I’ve done. That’s because I’m so full of shame. I’m drowning in my suffering.
