Yet if there is an angel at their side, a messenger, one out of a thousand, sent to tell them how to be upright,

若有一位使者伺候着他，若千位中有一位傳話者，將人該行的正當事指示他，

設有天使千中之一、與之同在、為之解釋、示人所當為者、

時有使者、才德異眾、以上帝之道明示之、

千天使中若有一天使為其人作保、以人所當為之正事明示之、

“ But suppose there is an angel who will speak up for him. The angel is very special. He’s one out of a thousand. He will tell that person how to do what is right.

If there be for him an angel, a mediator, one of the thousand, to declare to man what is right for him,

“ But if an angel from heaven appears— a special messenger to intercede for a person and declare that he is upright—

If there is an angel on his side, one mediator out of a thousand, to tell a person what is right for him

“ If there is an interceding angel for him, One out of a thousand, To remind a person of what is right for him,

“ If there is a messenger for him, A mediator, one among a thousand, To show man His uprightness,

If there be with him an angel, An interpreter, one among a thousand, To show unto man what is right for him;

If there is an angel on his side, one mediator out of a thousand, to tell a person what is right for him

If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:

If there is an angel beside him, one mediator out of a thousand, to tell a person what constitutes his uprightness;

“ If there is beside him an angel, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to show to man what is right for him;

“ I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty.

while I was still searching but not finding— I found one upright man among a thousand, but not one upright woman among them all.

Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

The angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bokim and said,“ I brought you up out of Egypt and led you into the land I swore to give to your ancestors. I said,‘ I will never break my covenant with you,

In all that has happened to us, you have remained righteous; you have acted faithfully, while we acted wickedly.

The Lord did not hesitate to bring the disaster on us, for the Lord our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him.

“ Yet you say,‘ The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear, you Israelites: Is my way unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust?If a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin, they will die for it; because of the sin they have committed they will die.But if a wicked person turns away from the wickedness they have committed and does what is just and right, they will save their life.Because they consider all the offenses they have committed and turn away from them, that person will surely live; they will not die.

That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment.Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.

It is unthinkable that God would do wrong, that the Almighty would pervert justice.

How much less, then, will he listen when you say that you do not see him, that your case is before him and you must wait for him,

and disclose to you the secrets of wisdom, for true wisdom has two sides. Know this: God has even forgotten some of your sin.

“ So listen to me, you men of understanding. Far be it from God to do evil, from the Almighty to do wrong.

The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power; in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress.

Why should the living complain when punished for their sins?Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.Let us lift up our hearts and our hands to God in heaven, and say:

Though they wished to dispute with him, they could not answer him one time out of a thousand.

Then Haggai, the Lord’s messenger, gave this message of the Lord to the people:“ I am with you,” declares the Lord.

Blessed is the one you discipline, Lord, the one you teach from your law;

I get my knowledge from afar; I will ascribe justice to my Maker.

But if people are bound in chains, held fast by cords of affliction,he tells them what they have done— that they have sinned arrogantly.He makes them listen to correction and commands them to repent of their evil.If they obey and serve him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment.But if they do not listen, they will perish by the sword and die without knowledge.“ The godless in heart harbor resentment; even when he fetters them, they do not cry for help.

“ For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, because he is the messenger of the Lord Almighty and people seek instruction from his mouth.

Teach me what I cannot see; if I have done wrong, I will not do so again.’

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,“ My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?If you are not disciplined— and everyone undergoes discipline— then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness.No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees.

I know, Lord, that your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.

The Lord, the God of their ancestors, sent word to them through his messengers again and again, because he had pity on his people and on his dwelling place.But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed at his prophets until the wrath of the Lord was aroused against his people and there was no remedy.

Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet.“ Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.

I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry
