“ But you are wrong, and I will show you why. For God is greater than any human being.

我駁爾言謬、蓋天主超超或作大乎世人、

“ But I tell you, in this you are not right, for God is greater than any mortal.

“ But I’m telling you that you aren’t right when you talk like that. After all, God is greater than any human being.

“ Behold, in this you are not right. I will answer you, for God is greater than man.

But I tell you that you are wrong in this matter, since God is greater than man.

Behold, let me respond to you, you are not right in this, For God is greater than mankind.

“ Look, in this you are not righteous. I will answer you, For God is greater than man.

Behold, I will answer thee, in this thou art not just; For God is greater than man.

But I tell you that you are wrong in this matter, since God is greater than man.

Behold,[ in] this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.

Now in this, you are not right– I answer you, for God is greater than a human being.

“ Behold, I will answer you. In this you are not just, for God is greater than man.

For God is so wise and so mighty. Who has ever challenged him successfully?

“ Listen to me, you who have understanding. Everyone knows that God doesn’t sin! The Almighty can do no wrong.He repays people according to their deeds. He treats people as they deserve.Truly, God will not do wrong. The Almighty will not twist justice.

“ Do you still want to argue with the Almighty? You are God’s critic, but do you have the answers?”

“ Do you think it is right for you to claim,‘ I am righteous before God’?

“ O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand.

“ God is mighty, but he does not despise anyone! He is mighty in both power and understanding.

Well then, you might say,“ Why does God blame people for not responding? Haven’t they simply done what he makes them do?”No, don’t say that. Who are you, a mere human being, to argue with God? Should the thing that was created say to the one who created it,“ Why have you made me like this?”When a potter makes jars out of clay, doesn’t he have a right to use the same lump of clay to make one jar for decoration and another to throw garbage into?

These are just the beginning of all that he does, merely a whisper of his power. Who, then, can comprehend the thunder of his power?”

“ Will you discredit my justice and condemn me just to prove you are right?Are you as strong as God? Can you thunder with a voice like his?

“ I will answer you and all your friends, too.

In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God.

“ Look, God is all powerful. Who is a teacher like him?No one can tell him what to do, or say to him,‘ You have done wrong.’

No, I will say my piece. I will speak my mind.

Not a single person on earth is always good and never sins.

Could God govern if he hated justice? Are you going to condemn the almighty judge?For he says to kings,‘ You are wicked,’ and to nobles,‘ You are unjust.’He doesn’t care how great a person may be, and he pays no more attention to the rich than to the poor. He made them all.

We don’t set the time when we will come before God in judgment.

“ Yet you say,‘ The Lord isn’t doing what’s right!’ Listen to me, O people of Israel. Am I the one not doing what’s right, or is it you?
