“我若见恨我的遭报就欢喜，见他遭灾便高兴；

“ If I have rejoiced at my enemy’s misfortune or gloated over the trouble that came to him—

“ I wasn’t happy when hard times came to my enemies. I didn’t enjoy seeing the trouble they had.

“ If I have rejoiced at the ruin of him who hated me, or exulted when evil overtook him

“ Have I ever rejoiced when disaster struck my enemies, or become excited when harm came their way?

Have I rejoiced over my enemy’s distress, or become excited when trouble came his way?

“ Have I rejoiced at the misfortune of my enemy, Or become excited when evil found him?

“ If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, Or lifted myself up when evil found him

If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, Or lifted up myself when evil found him

Have I rejoiced over my enemy’s distress, or become excited when trouble came his way?

Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice,or the Lord will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from them. (niv)

Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished. (niv)

Do not let them think,“ Aha, just what we wanted!” or say,“ We have swallowed him up.”May all who gloat over my distress be put to shame and confusion; may all who exalt themselves over me be clothed with shame and disgrace. (niv)

Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth and humbled myself with fasting. When my prayers returned to me unanswered,I went about mourning as though for my friend or brother. I bowed my head in grief as though weeping for my mother. (niv)

They mourned and wept and fasted till evening for Saul and his son Jonathan, and for the army of the Lord and for the nation of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword. (niv)

when someone told me,‘ Saul is dead,’ and thought he was bringing good news, I seized him and put him to death in Ziklag. That was the reward I gave him for his news!How much more— when wicked men have killed an innocent man in his own house and on his own bed— should I not now demand his blood from your hand and rid the earth of you!” (niv)

You should not gloat over your brother in the day of his misfortune, nor rejoice over the people of Judah in the day of their destruction, nor boast so much in the day of their trouble. (niv)

As King David approached Bahurim, a man from the same clan as Saul’s family came out from there. His name was Shimei son of Gera, and he cursed as he came out.He pelted David and all the king’s officials with stones, though all the troops and the special guard were on David’s right and left.As he cursed, Shimei said,“ Get out, get out, you murderer, you scoundrel!The Lord has repaid you for all the blood you shed in the household of Saul, in whose place you have reigned. The Lord has given the kingdom into the hands of your son Absalom. You have come to ruin because you are a murderer!” (niv)
