If I have made gold my hope, And have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;

“我若仰仗金子，依靠纯金，

我若以黄金为我所信靠的，又对精金说：‘你是我所靠赖的’；

我若以黃金為指望，對精金說：你是我的倚靠；

「我若以黃金為我的指望，對純金說：你是我的倚靠；

「我若以黃金為我的指望，對純金說：你是我的倚靠；

「我若仰仗金子，依靠純金，

我若以黃金為我所信靠的，又對精金說：‘你是我所靠賴的’；

『我若以金子為我所安心信賴的，而對黃金說：「你是我所倚靠」；

我若惟金是望、謂精金曰、爾為我之所恃、

我不以金為寶、亦不以兼金為可恃。

何曾以金為望、何曾云精金為我所恃、

“ If I have put my trust in gold or said to pure gold,‘ You are my security,’

“ Suppose I’ve put my trust in gold. I’ve said to pure gold,‘ You make me feel secure.’

“ If I have made gold my trust or called fine gold my confidence,

“ Have I put my trust in money or felt secure because of my gold?

If I placed my confidence in gold or called fine gold my trust,

“ If I have put my confidence in gold, And called fine gold my trust,

“ If I have made gold my hope, Or said to fine gold,‘ You are my confidence’;

If I placed my confidence in gold or called fine gold my trust,

If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold,[ Thou art] my confidence;

“ If I have put my confidence in gold or said to pure gold,‘ You are my security!’

“ If I have made gold my hope, and have said to the fine gold,‘ You are my confidence;’

He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; But the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf.

The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: The destruction of the poor is their poverty.

They that trust in their wealth, And boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;None of them can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him

Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And strengthened himself in his wickedness.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and keep yourselves from all covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

And he heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father’s; and of that which was our father’s hath he gotten all this glory.

Trust not in oppression, And become not vain in robbery: If riches increase, set not your heart thereon.

Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is Jehovah? Or lest I be poor, and steal, And use profanely the name of my God.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Put to death therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;

And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him.

Charge them that are rich in this present world, that they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

lest, when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;then thy heart be lifted up, and thou forget Jehovah thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;
