“ If I have kept the poor from their desire, Or caused the eyes of the widow to fail,

“我若不容贫寒人得其所愿，或叫寡妇眼中失望，

“我若不让贫寒人遂其所愿，或是叫寡妇眼中失望，

“我若不让贫寒人遂其所愿，或是叫寡妇眼中失望，

我何曾拒绝穷人的请求，或使寡妇眼露失望之情，

我若不给穷人所要的，或使寡妇的眼所期待的落空；

我若不容貧寒人得其所願，或叫寡婦眼中失望，

「我若不讓貧寒人遂其所願，或是叫寡婦眼中失望，

「我若不讓貧寒人遂其所願，或是叫寡婦眼中失望，

我何曾拒絕窮人的請求，或使寡婦眼露失望之情，

我若不給窮人所要的，或使寡婦的眼所期待的落空；

我若將貧寒人所願望的留住不給，或是讓寡婦的眼渴望到失明，

我若禁貧者得其所願、使嫠婦之目失望、

貧者所欲我施之、嫠者所望我遂之。

何曾使貧者不得所願、使嫠婦不得所望、

“ If I have denied the desires of the poor or let the eyes of the widow grow weary,

“ I haven’t said no to what poor people have wanted. I haven’t let widows lose their hope.

“ If I have withheld anything that the poor desired, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,

“ Have I refused to help the poor, or crushed the hopes of widows?

If I have refused the wishes of the poor or let the widow’s eyes go blind,

“ If I have kept the poor from their desire, Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,

If I have withheld the poor from their desire, Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,

If I have refused the wishes of the poor or let the widow’s eyes go blind,

If I have withheld the poor from[ their] desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;

If I have refused to give the poor what they desired, or caused the eyes of the widow to fail,

“ If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,

They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do.

For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor, He has violently seized a house which he did not build.

Like a crane or a swallow, so I chattered; I mourned like a dove; My eyes fail from looking upward. O Lord, I am oppressed; Undertake for me!

Still our eyes failed us, Watching vainly for our help; In our watching we watched For a nation that could not save us.

He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted with honor.

Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea.

Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, and your eyes shall look and fail with longing for them all day long; and there shall be no strength in your hand.

I am weary with my crying; My throat is dry; My eyes fail while I wait for my God.

My eyes fail from seeking Your salvation And Your righteous word.

You have not given the weary water to drink, And you have withheld bread from the hungry.But the mighty man possessed the land, And the honorable man dwelt in it.You have sent widows away empty, And the strength of the fatherless was crushed.

My eyes fail from searching Your word, Saying,“ When will You comfort me?”

desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

“ If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother,but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs.Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying,‘ The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lord against you, and it become sin among you.You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand.

So the poor have hope, And injustice shuts her mouth.
