For that were a heinous crime; Yea, it were an iniquity to be punished by the judges:

蓋此為重罪、士師當罰之惡、

此乃澆漓之俗、士師所必罰、

緣此為大罪、為有司所當罰之惡、

For that would have been wicked, a sin to be judged.

Wanting another woman would have been an evil thing. It would have been a sin that should be judged.

For that would be a heinous crime; that would be an iniquity to be punished by the judges;

For lust is a shameful sin, a crime that should be punished.

For that would be a disgrace; it would be an iniquity deserving punishment.

For that would be a lustful crime; Moreover, it would be wrongdoing punishable by judges.

For that would be wickedness; Yes, it would be iniquity deserving of judgment.

For that would be a disgrace; it would be a crime deserving punishment.

For this[ is] an heinous crime; yea, it[ is] an iniquity[ to be punished by] the judges.

For I would have committed a shameful act, an iniquity to be judged.

And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both of them die, the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away the evil from Israel.If there be a damsel that is a virgin betrothed unto a husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them to death with stones; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbor’s wife: so thou shalt put away the evil from the midst of thee.

This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judges; For I should have denied the God that is above.

And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter- in- law hath played the harlot; and moreover, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.

And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might easily have lain with thy wife, and thou wouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.

And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will bring upon thee the blood of wrath and jealousy.

Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and wherein have I sinned against thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

So he that goeth in to his neighbor’s wife; Whosoever toucheth her shall not be unpunished.Men do not despise a thief, if he steal To satisfy himself when he is hungry:But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; He shall give all the substance of his house.He that committeth adultery with a woman is void of understanding: He doeth it who would destroy his own soul.Wounds and dishonor shall he get; And his reproach shall not be wiped away.

he is not greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back anything from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
