跟地上的君王和謀士、跟為自己造荒陵的同安息，

與為己重建邱墟之君相同在、

國王議士、當年所築之陵墓、而今安在。元戎巨富、金銀充棟、而今烏有、我欲與之同歸於盡。

世間君王卿相、卿相或作義士為己建陵墓、彼皆死亡、我亦與之相同、

with kings and rulers of the earth, who built for themselves places now lying in ruins,

I’d be with the earth’s kings and rulers. They had built for themselves places that are now destroyed.

with kings and counselors of the earth who rebuilt ruins for themselves,

I would rest with the world’s kings and prime ministers, whose great buildings now lie in ruins.

With kings and counselors of the earth, Who rebuilt ruins for themselves;

With kings and counsellors of the earth, which built desolate places for themselves;

with kings and counselors of the earth who built for themselves places now desolate,

He has lived in desolate cities, in houses which no one inhabited, which were ready to become heaps.

They all will answer and ask you,“ Have you also become as weak as we are? Have you become like us?”Your pomp is brought down to Sheol, with the sound of your stringed instruments. Maggots are spread out under you, and worms cover you.How you have fallen from heaven, shining one, son of the dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, who laid the nations low!You said in your heart,“ I will ascend into heaven! I will exalt my throne above the stars of God! I will sit on the mountain of assembly, in the far north!I will ascend above the heights of the clouds! I will make myself like the Most High!”Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the depths of the pit.Those who see you will stare at you. They will ponder you, saying,“ Is this the man who made the earth to tremble, who shook kingdoms,

Those who trust in their wealth, and boast in the multitude of their riches—none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give God a ransom for him.For the redemption of their life is costly, no payment is ever enough,that he should live on forever, that he should not see corruption.For he sees that wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless perish, and leave their wealth to others.

Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in his father David’s city; and Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.

What man is he who shall live and not see death, who shall deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah.

then I will bring you down with those who descend into the pit, to the people of old time, and will make you dwell in the lower parts of the earth, in the places that are desolate of old, with those who go down to the pit, that you be not inhabited; and I will set glory in the land of the living.

David slept with his fathers, and was buried in David’s city.

You were replenished and made very glorious in the heart of the seas.Your rowers have brought you into great waters. The east wind has broken you in the heart of the seas.Your riches, your wares, your merchandise, your mariners, your pilots, your repairers of ship seams, the dealers in your merchandise, and all your men of war, who are in you, with all your company which is among you, will fall into the heart of the seas in the day of your ruin.At the sound of the cry of your pilots, the pasture lands will shake.All who handle the oars, the mariners and all the pilots of the sea, will come down from their ships. They will stand on the land,and will cause their voice to be heard over you, and will cry bitterly. They will cast up dust on their heads. They will wallow in the ashes.They will make themselves bald for you, and clothe themselves with sackcloth. They will weep for you in bitterness of soul, with bitter mourning.In their wailing they will take up a lamentation for you, and lament over you, saying,‘ Who is there like Tyre, like her who is brought to silence in the middle of the sea?’

For I know that you will bring me to death, To the house appointed for all living.

He leads counselors away stripped. He makes judges fools.

Woe to those who join house to house, who lay field to field, until there is no room, and you are made to dwell alone in the middle of the land!

Those who will be of you will build the old waste places. You will raise up the foundations of many generations. You will be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Paths with Dwellings.

There is no man who has power over the spirit to contain the spirit; neither does he have power over the day of death. There is no discharge in war; neither shall wickedness deliver those who practice it.

They are appointed as a flock for Sheol. Death shall be their shepherd. The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning. Their beauty shall decay in Sheol, far from their mansion.
