與那些為自己重建荒涼之處，地上的君王和謀士在一起；

與世上的君王和謀臣作伴——他們建造的宮殿已荒廢，

與世上那些為自己建造陵墓的君王和謀士同睡，

跟地上的君王和謀士、跟為自己造荒陵的同安息，

與為己重建邱墟之君相同在、

國王議士、當年所築之陵墓、而今安在。元戎巨富、金銀充棟、而今烏有、我欲與之同歸於盡。

世間君王卿相、卿相或作義士為己建陵墓、彼皆死亡、我亦與之相同、

with kings and rulers of the earth, who built for themselves places now lying in ruins,

I’d be with the earth’s kings and rulers. They had built for themselves places that are now destroyed.

I would rest with the world’s kings and prime ministers, whose great buildings now lie in ruins.

with kings and counselors of the earth, who built up waste places for themselves;

and has lived in desolate cities, in houses that none should inhabit, which were ready to become heaps of ruins;

All of them will answer and say to you:‘ You too have become as weak as we! You have become like us!’Your pomp is brought down to Sheol, the sound of your harps; maggots are laid as a bed beneath you, and worms are your covers.“ How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low!You said in your heart,‘ I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north;I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’But you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit.Those who see you will stare at you and ponder over you:‘ Is this the man who made the earth tremble, who shook kingdoms,

those who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches?Truly no man can ransom another, or give to God the price of his life,for the ransom of their life is costly and can never suffice,that he should live on forever and never see the pit.For he sees that even the wise die; the fool and the stupid alike must perish and leave their wealth to others.

And Solomon slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David his father. And Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.

What man can live and never see death? Who can deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah

then I will make you go down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of old, and I will make you to dwell in the world below, among ruins from of old, with those who go down to the pit, so that you will not be inhabited; but I will set beauty in the land of the living.

So you were filled and heavily laden in the heart of the seas.“ Your rowers have brought you out into the high seas. The east wind has wrecked you in the heart of the seas.Your riches, your wares, your merchandise, your mariners and your pilots, your caulkers, your dealers in merchandise, and all your men of war who are in you, with all your crew that is in your midst, sink into the heart of the seas on the day of your fall.At the sound of the cry of your pilots the countryside shakes,and down from their ships come all who handle the oar. The mariners and all the pilots of the sea stand on the landand shout aloud over you and cry out bitterly. They cast dust on their heads and wallow in ashes;they make themselves bald for you and put sackcloth on their waist, and they weep over you in bitterness of soul, with bitter mourning.In their wailing they raise a lamentation for you and lament over you:‘ Who is like Tyre, like one destroyed in the midst of the sea?

For I know that you will bring me to death and to the house appointed for all living.

He leads counselors away stripped, and judges he makes fools.

Woe to those who join house to house, who add field to field, until there is no more room, and you are made to dwell alone in the midst of the land.

And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.

No man has power to retain the spirit, or power over the day of death. There is no discharge from war, nor will wickedness deliver those who are given to it.

Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol; death shall be their shepherd, and the upright shall rule over them in the morning. Their form shall be consumed in Sheol, with no place to dwell.
