And he said to mankind,‘ The fear of the LORD– that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”

And he said to the human race,“ The fear of the Lord— that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.”

He said to human beings,“ Have respect for the Lord. That will prove you are wise. Avoid evil. That will show you have understanding.”

And he said to man,‘ Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”

And this is what he says to all humanity:‘ The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.’”

He said to mankind,“ The fear of the Lord— that is wisdom. And to turn from evil is understanding.”

And to mankind He said,‘ Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to turn away from evil is understanding.’ ”

And to man He said,‘ Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil is understanding.’”

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.

He said to mankind,“ The fear of the Lord is this: wisdom. And to turn from evil is understanding.”

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that[ is] wisdom; and to depart from evil[ is] understanding.

To man he said,‘ Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom. To depart from evil is understanding.’”

To obey the LORD is the fundamental principle for wise living; all who carry out his precepts acquire good moral insight. He will receive praise forever.

Do not be wise in your own estimation; fear the LORD and turn away from evil.

Fearing the LORD is the beginning of moral knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The beginning of wisdom is to fear the LORD, and acknowledging the Holy One is understanding.

So be sure to do them, because this will testify of your wise understanding to the people who will learn of all these statutes and say,“ Indeed, this great nation is a very wise people.”

Having heard everything, I have reached this conclusion: Fear God and keep his commandments, because this is the whole duty of man.

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct he should show his works done in the gentleness that wisdom brings.But if you have bitter jealousy and selfishness in your hearts, do not boast and tell lies against the truth.Such wisdom does not come from above but is earthly, natural, demonic.For where there is jealousy and selfishness, there is disorder and every evil practice.But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and not hypocritical.

Turn away from evil and do what is right! Strive for peace and promote it!

The highway of the upright is to turn away from evil; the one who guards his way safeguards his life.

Secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those that are revealed belong to us and our descendants forever, so that we might obey all the words of this law.

“ To you, O people, I call out, and my voice calls to all mankind.You who are naive, discern wisdom! And you fools, understand discernment!

Wash! Cleanse yourselves! Remove your sinful deeds from my sight. Stop sinning!

before he made the earth and its fields, or the beginning of the dust of the world.When he established the heavens, I was there; when he marked out the horizon over the face of the deep,when he established the clouds above, when the fountains of the deep grew strong,when he gave the sea his decree that the waters should not pass over his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth,then I was beside him as a master craftsman, and I was his delight day by day, rejoicing before him at all times,rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth, and delighting in its people.“ So now, children, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways.

And he must turn away from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.

Instruction from the wise is like a life-giving fountain, to turn a person from deadly snares.

However, God’s solid foundation remains standing, bearing this seal:“ The Lord knows those who are his,” and“ Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from evil.”
