凡過路的都向你拍掌。他們向耶路撒冷嗤笑，搖頭：「這就是人稱為全美的、稱為全地所喜悅的城嗎？」

這素來歡樂、安然居住的城，心裏說：「惟有我，除我以外再沒有別的」，現在竟然荒涼，成為野獸躺臥之處！凡經過的人都必搖着手嗤笑它。

天哪，眾聖徒、眾使徒、眾先知啊！你們都要因她歡喜，因為上帝已經在她身上為你們伸了冤。」

我必使這城令人驚駭嘲笑；凡路過的，必因這城所遭的災難驚駭嘲笑。

因為你遵守暗利的規條，行亞哈家一切所行的，順從他們的計謀；因此，我必使你荒涼，使你的居民遭人嗤笑，你們也必擔當我百姓的羞辱。

以這兩日為猶太人擺脫仇敵得享平安、轉憂為喜、轉悲為樂的吉日，並在這兩日設宴歡樂，彼此餽送禮物，賙濟窮人。於是，猶太人照末底改所寫給他們的，把開始所做的作為遵守的定例。因為猶太人的仇敵亞甲人哈米大他的兒子哈曼設謀要殺害猶太人，抽普珥，普珥即籤，為要殺盡滅絕他們；但這陰謀到了王面前，王卻降旨使哈曼謀害猶太人的惡事歸到他自己的頭上，他和他的眾子都被掛在木架上。

義人享福，全城喜樂；惡人滅亡，人人歡呼。
