he alone spreads out the heavens, and treads on the waves of the sea;

He is the one who sits on the earth’s horizon; its inhabitants are like grasshoppers before him. He is the one who stretches out the sky like a thin curtain, and spreads it out like a pitched tent.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.Now the earth was without shape and empty, and darkness was over the surface of the watery deep, but the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the water.

From eternity I was appointed, from the beginning, from before the world existed.When there were no deep oceans I was born, when there were no springs overflowing with water;before the mountains were set in place– before the hills– I was born,before he made the earth and its fields, or the beginning of the dust of the world.When he established the heavens, I was there; when he marked out the horizon over the face of the deep,

He covers himself with light as if it were a garment. He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain,and lays the beams of the upper rooms of his palace on the rain clouds. He makes the clouds his chariot, and travels along on the wings of the wind.He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant.He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be upended.

This is what the true God, the LORD, says– the one who created the sky and stretched it out, the one who fashioned the earth and everything that lives on it, the one who gives breath to the people on it, and life to those who live on it:

Look up at the sky! Who created all these heavenly lights? He is the one who leads out their ranks; he calls them all by name. Because of his absolute power and awesome strength, not one of them is missing.

For he set its foundation upon the seas, and established it upon the ocean currents.
