And Uriah departed out of the king’s house, and there followed him a mess[ of meat] from the king.But Uriah slept at the door of the king’s house with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down unto his house, David said unto Uriah, Camest thou not from[ thy] journey? why[ then] didst thou not go down unto thine house?And Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife?[ as] thou livest, and[ as] thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.And David said to Uriah, Tarry here to day also, and tomorrow I will let thee depart. So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the morrow.And when David had called him, he did eat and drink before him; and he made him drunk: and at even he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but went not down to his house.

When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers.

For thou didst[ it] secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.

And she put her widow’s garments off from her, and covered her with a vail, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which[ is] by the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife.When Judah saw her, he thought her[ to be] an harlot; because she had covered her face.

[ But] whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he[ that] doeth it destroyeth his own soul.A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.For jealousy[ is] the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.

And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?

Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.

And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?Thick clouds[ are] a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.
