He will restore that for which he labored, and will not swallow it down. He will not rejoice according to the substance that he has gotten.

What he toiled for he must give back uneaten; he will not enjoy the profit from his trading.

What they worked for they must give back before they can eat it. They won’t enjoy what they have earned.

He will give back the fruit of his toil and will not swallow it down; from the profit of his trading he will get no enjoyment.

They will give back everything they worked for. Their wealth will bring them no joy.

He must return the fruit of his labor without consuming it; he doesn’t enjoy the profits from his trading.

He returns the product of his labor And cannot swallow it; As to the riches of his trading, He cannot even enjoy them.

He will restore that for which he labored, And will not swallow it down; From the proceeds of business He will get no enjoyment.

That which he labored for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down; According to the substance that he hath gotten, he shall not rejoice.

I will execute judgment on Bel in Babylon, and I will bring out of his mouth that which he has swallowed up. The nations will not flow any more to him. Yes, the wall of Babylon will fall.

The new wine mourns. The vine languishes. All the merry- hearted sigh.The mirth of tambourines ceases. The sound of those who rejoice ends. The joy of the harp ceases.They will not drink wine with a song. Strong drink will be bitter to those who drink it.The confused city is broken down. Every house is shut up, that no man may come in.There is a crying in the streets because of the wine. All joy is darkened. The mirth of the land is gone.

For they sow the wind, and they will reap the whirlwind. He has no standing grain. The stalk will yield no head. If it does yield, strangers will swallow it up.Israel is swallowed up. Now they are among the nations like a worthless thing.

The time has come! The day draws near. Don’t let the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn; for wrath is on all its multitude.

But your eyes and your heart are only for your covetousness, for shedding innocent blood, for oppression, and for doing violence.”

Hear this, you who desire to swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the land to fail,

What has my beloved to do in my house, since she has behaved lewdly with many, and the holy flesh has passed from you? When you do evil, then you rejoice.”Yahweh called your name,“ A green olive tree, beautiful with goodly fruit.” With the noise of a great roar he has kindled fire on it, and its branches are broken.

“ Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me. He has crushed me. He has made me an empty vessel. He has, like a monster, swallowed me up. He has filled his mouth with my delicacies. He has cast me out.

Let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit.
