你要對人民說：「你們要潔淨自己為聖，豫備明天可以喫肉，因為你們哭着給永恆主聽，說：我們若有肉喫多好呀！我們在埃及多好呀！故此永恆主必將肉給你們喫。你們要喫的不是一天兩天、不是五天十天，也不是二十天，乃是到一整月工夫，到肉從你們鼻孔裏噴出來、變為你們所厭的東西為止；因為你們棄絕了那在你們中間的永恆主，竟在他面前哭着說：「我們幹麼出了埃及呢？」』

因為你們若順着肉體而活，就必死；若順着靈治死你們身體上的行為，就必活。

倘若你的一隻手使你絆跌，把它砍掉吧。你殘廢了進入生命，比有兩隻手而往地獄裏，入那不滅的火裏倒好呢。

若是你的右眼使你絆跌，你要把它剜出來，丟掉它；因為你肢體中的一肢失掉了，而你的全身不丟在地獄裏，這對於你倒還好。若是你的右手使你絆跌，你要把它砍下來，丟掉它；因為你肢體中的一肢失掉了，而你的全身不往地獄去，這對於你倒還好。
