不但如此，我看萬事都毫無價值，因為認識我主基督耶穌最寶貴。我為祂失去了一切，我把失去的一切視為垃圾，好得到基督，與祂聯合。我成為義人不是因為遵行律法，而是因為信靠基督。這義從上帝而來，以信為基礎。我渴望認識基督和祂復活的大能，與祂一同受苦，甚至到死的地步，

人若賺得全世界，卻喪失自己的生命，又有什麼益處呢？人還能拿什麼換回自己的生命呢？

「所以我告訴你們，不要為生活憂慮，如吃什麼、喝什麼，也不要為身體憂慮，如穿什麼。難道生命不比飲食重要嗎？身體不比穿著重要嗎？

到那日，眾人必把造來敬拜的金銀偶像丟給田鼠和蝙蝠。耶和華使大地震動的時候，眾人必躲進山洞和岩縫，逃避祂的憤怒和威榮。

其中有十個人對以實瑪利說：「請不要殺我們，我們在田野裡藏了許多大麥、小麥、油和蜜。」他就沒有殺他們。

以斯帖回答說：「我若得到王的恩寵，王若願意，就請王把我的性命和我本族人的性命賜給我——這是我所求的。因為我和我本族的人都被賣了，我們將被剷除、殺光、滅盡。如果只是賣我們為奴為婢，我會閉口不語，因為那樣的痛苦不值得來打擾王。」

第二天，風浪依然猛烈，他們開始把貨物拋進海裡。第三天，他們又親手把船上的用具也拋掉了。
