When Job’s three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.

Job had three friends named Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They heard about all the troubles that had come to Job. So they started out from their homes. They had agreed to meet together. They wanted to go and show their concern for Job. They wanted to comfort him.

Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that had come upon him, they came each from his own place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They made an appointment together to come to show him sympathy and comfort him.

When three of Job’s friends heard of the tragedy he had suffered, they got together and traveled from their homes to comfort and console him. Their names were Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite.

以利法的儿子是提幔、阿抹、洗玻、迦坦、基纳斯，

以下是以扫子孙中的族长。以扫的长子以利法的子孙中有提幔族长、阿抹族长、洗玻族长、基纳斯族长、

朋友时时彼此关爱，手足生来患难与共。

亚伯拉罕的妾基土拉所生的儿子是心兰、约珊、米但、米甸、伊施巴、书亚。约珊的儿子是示巴和底但。

提玛的商队来找水喝，示巴的旅客指望解渴，

如果身体某个肢体感到痛苦，全身也一同受苦。如果某个肢体得到荣耀，全身也一同喜乐。

很多犹太人来看玛大和玛丽亚，为她们兄弟的事来安慰她们。

书亚人比勒达回答约伯说：

“即使绝望者抛弃对上帝的敬畏，也应该得到朋友的恩待。

他的儿女都来安慰他，他却不肯接受他们的安慰，说：“我一定会凄凄惨惨地下到阴间，去我儿子那里。”约瑟的父亲为他哀哭。

不可抛弃你的朋友和父亲的至交。患难时别投靠兄弟，近邻胜过远亲。

书亚人比勒达回答说：

“我的朋友啊，可怜我吧！可怜我吧！因为上帝的手击打我。

要设身处地地顾念那些被囚禁的人，要感同身受地顾念那些遭遇苦难的人。

而你们只会编造谎言，都是无用的庸医。

“这些话，我听过很多，你们安慰人，反让人愁烦。

我的密友都憎恶我，我爱的人也反对我。

提幔人以利法回答说：

滥交友，自招损；得知己，胜手足。

耶和华对约伯说完这些话后，就对提幔人以利法说：“你和你的两个朋友令我愤怒，因为你们对我的议论不如我仆人约伯说的有理。

我的朋友讥笑我，我在上帝面前流泪。

荒凉、毁灭、饥荒、战祸已临到你身上，谁会为你哀哭呢？谁能安慰你呢？
