I wish that someone might arbitrate between a man and God just as a man pleads for his friend.

愿人得与神辩白，如同人与朋友辩白一样；

愿人可与上帝理论，如同人与朋友一样；

愿人可与神理论，如同人与朋友一样；

但愿人与上帝之间有仲裁者，如同人与人之间。

但愿人可以为人与神分辩，正如世人为朋友辩白一样。

願人得與神辯白，如同人與朋友辯白一樣；

願人可與上帝理論，如同人與朋友一樣；

願人可與神理論，如同人與朋友一樣；

但願人與上帝之間有仲裁者，如同人與人之間。

但願人可以為人與神分辯，正如世人為朋友辯白一樣。

但願人得以同上帝辯訴，就如同人跟朋友訴說一樣。

願上帝為人辨冤於其前、並在人之鄰里中、

願得在上帝前、明辨其冤、如與同儕言者然、

願世人得與天主辯論、如人與人辯論然、

on behalf of a man he pleads with God as one pleads for a friend.

He makes his appeal to God to help me as a person pleads for a friend.

that he would argue the case of a man with God, as a son of man does with his neighbor.

I need someone to mediate between God and me, as a person mediates between friends.

I wish that someone might argue for a man with God just as anyone would for a friend.

That one might plead for a man with God As a son of man with his neighbor!

Oh, that one might plead for a man with God, As a man pleads for his neighbor!

That he would maintain the right of a man with God, And of a son of man with his neighbor!

O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man[ pleadeth] for his neighbour!

and he contends with God on behalf of man as a man pleads for his friend.

“ Woe to the one who argues with his Maker— one clay pot among many. Does clay say to the one forming it,‘ What are you making?’ Or does your work say,‘ He has no hands’?

Let Him take His rod away from me so His terror will no longer frighten me.Then I would speak and not fear Him. But that is not the case; I am on my own.

Yet I prefer to speak to the Almighty and argue my case before God.

The Lord answered Job:Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? Let him who argues with God give an answer.Then Job answered the Lord:I am so insignificant. How can I answer You? I place my hand over my mouth.I have spoken once, and I will not reply; twice, but now I can add nothing.

If only I had someone to hear my case! Here is my signature; let the Almighty answer me. Let my Opponent compose His indictment.

But who are you, a mere man, to talk back to God? Will what is formed say to the one who formed it,“ Why did you make me like this?”

If only I knew how to find Him, so that I could go to His throne.I would plead my case before Him and fill my mouth with arguments.I would learn how He would answer me; and understand what He would say to me.Would He prosecute me forcefully? No, He will certainly pay attention to me.Then an upright man could reason with Him, and I would escape from my Judge forever.

Then call, and I will answer, or I will speak, and You can respond to me.

Whatever exists was given its name long ago, and it is known what man is. But he is not able to contend with the One stronger than he.
