Because he has reached out with his hand against God, And is arrogant toward the Almighty.

因其舉手抗拒天主、妄恃己力、侮慢全能之主、

because he shakes his fist at God and vaunts himself against the Almighty,

They shake their fists at God. They brag about themselves and oppose the Mighty One.

Because he has stretched out his hand against God and defies the Almighty,

For they shake their fists at God, defying the Almighty.

For he has stretched out his hand against God and has arrogantly opposed the Almighty.

For he stretches out his hand against God, And acts defiantly against the Almighty,

Because he hath stretched out his hand against God, And behaveth himself proudly against the Almighty;

For he has stretched out his hand against God and has arrogantly opposed the Almighty.

For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.

for he stretches out his hand against God, and vaunts himself against the Almighty,

Because he has stretched out his hand against God, and behaves himself proudly against the Almighty,

Wise in heart and mighty in strength, Who has defied Him without harm?

Why then do you harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When He had severely dealt with them, did they not let the people go, and they left?

“ Behold, the man who would not make God his refuge, But trusted in the abundance of his riches And was strong in his evil desire.”

They have set their mouth against the heavens, And their tongue parades through the earth.

Then He declares to them their work And their wrongdoings, that they have been arrogant.

but you have risen up against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your nobles, your wives, and your concubines have been drinking wine out of them; and you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor understand. But the God in whose hand are your life breath and all your ways, you have not glorified.

“ Your words have been arrogant against Me,” says the Lord.“ Yet you say,‘ What have we spoken against You?’

But Pharaoh said,“ Who is the Lord that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, and besides, I will not let Israel go.”Then they said,“ The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please, let us go a three days’ journey into the wilderness so that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God, otherwise He will strike us with plague or with the sword.”

They say,“ How does God know? And is there knowledge with the Most High?”

“ Be broken, you peoples, and be shattered; And listen, all remote places of the earth. Get ready, yet be shattered; Get ready, yet be shattered.Devise a plan, but it will fail; State a proposal, but it will not stand, For God is with us.”

I have no wrath. Should someone give Me briars and thorns in battle, Then I would step on them, I would burn them completely.

Or do you have an arm like God, And can you thunder with a voice like His?“ Adorn yourself with pride and dignity, And clothe yourself with honor and majesty.Let out your outbursts of anger, And look at everyone who is arrogant, and humble him.

Now about that time Herod the king laid hands on some who belonged to the church, to do them harm.

Still you exalt yourself against My people by not letting them go.

So the Philistines were afraid, for they said,“ God has come into the camp!” And they said,“ Woe to us! For nothing like this has happened before.Woe to us! Who will save us from the hand of these mighty gods? These are the gods who struck the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues in the wilderness.Take courage and be men, Philistines, or you will become slaves to the Hebrews, as they have been slaves to you; so be men and fight!”

Who has performed and accomplished it, Summoning the generations from the beginning?‘ I, the Lord, am the first, and with the last. I am He.’ ”The coastlands have seen and are afraid; The ends of the earth tremble; They have approached and have come.Each one helps his neighbor And says to his brother,“ Be strong!”So the craftsman encourages the smelter, And he who smooths metal with the hammer encourages him who beats the anvil, Saying of the soldering,“ It is good”; And he fastens it with nails, So that it will not totter.

‘ And if by these things you do not learn your lesson regarding Me, but you show hostility toward Me,

And immediately an angel of the Lord struck him because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died.

And he said,“ Who are You, Lord?” And He said,“ I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,

So it will be that when the Lord has completed all His work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, He will say,“ I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the arrogant pride of his eyes.”For he has said,“ By the power of my hand and by my wisdom I did this, Because I have understanding; And I removed the boundaries of the peoples And plundered their treasures, And like a powerful man I brought down their inhabitants,And my hand reached to the riches of the peoples like a nest, And as one gathers abandoned eggs, I gathered all the earth; And there was not one that flapped its wing, opened its beak, or chirped.”
