But man dies and is powerless; he expires– and where is he?

但人死亡而消灭；他气绝，竟在何处呢？

但壮士一死就消逝了；人一气绝，他在何处呢？

但壮士一死就消逝了；人一气绝，他在何处呢？

但人一死，就失去力量；人一咽气，就不知去向。

人死了，就化为乌有；人一气绝就不在了。

但人死亡而消滅；他氣絕，竟在何處呢？

但人一死，就失去力量；人一嚥氣，就不知去向。

人死了，就化為烏有；人一氣絕就不在了。

但人死了就過去；人一氣絕，究竟在哪裏呢？

惟人死而僵、其氣既絕、則安在哉、

人則異是、始則血衰、既而氣絕、歸於無有。

惟人死則滅、人氣絕則安在、

But a man dies and is laid low; he breathes his last and is no more.

No man is like that. When he dies, he is buried in a grave. He takes his last breath. Then he is gone.

“ But when people die, their strength is gone. They breathe their last, and then where are they?

But a person dies and fades away; he breathes his last— where is he?

But a man dies and lies prostrate. A person passes away, and where is he?

But man dies and is laid away; Indeed he breathes his last And where is he?

But man dieth, and is laid low: Yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

so man lies down and does not rise; until the heavens are no more, they will not awake nor arise from their sleep.

Remember that my life is but a breath, that my eyes will never again see happiness.The eye of him who sees me now will see me no more; your eyes will look for me, but I will be gone.As a cloud is dispersed and then disappears, so the one who goes down to the grave does not come up again.He returns no more to his house, nor does his place of residence know him any more.

“ Why then did you bring me out from the womb? I should have died and no eye would have seen me!

“ Why did I not die at birth, and why did I not expire as I came out of the womb?

And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God,

Then Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and gave up his spirit.

But the eyes of the wicked fail, and escape eludes them; their one hope is to breathe their last.”

At once she collapsed at his feet and died. So when the young men came in, they found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

If I hope for the grave to be my home, if I spread out my bed in darkness,If I cry to corruption,‘ You are my father,’ and to the worm,‘ My Mother,’ or‘ My sister,’where then is my hope? And my hope, who sees it?Will it go down to the barred gates of death? Will we descend together into the dust?”

The wicked will be thrown down in his trouble, but the righteous have refuge even in the threat of death.

“ Now the poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.And in hell, as he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far off with Lazarus at his side.

When Jacob finished giving these instructions to his sons, he pulled his feet up onto the bed, breathed his last breath, and went to his people.
