People were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage– right up to the day Noah entered the ark. And I will say to myself,“ You have plenty of goods stored up for many years; relax, eat, drink, celebrate!”’But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your life will be demanded back from you, but who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

Do not boast about tomorrow; for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

Now his sons used to go and hold a feast in the house of each one in turn, and they would send and invite their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

Surely, no one knows his appointed time! Like fish that are caught in a deadly net, and like birds that are caught in a snare– just like them, all people are ensnared at an unfortunate time that falls upon them suddenly.
