and they questioned them, saying,“ Is this your son, who you say was born blind? Then how does he now see?”

問他們說：「這是你們的兒子嗎？你們說他生來是失明的，現在怎麼看見了呢？」

問他們：「這是你們的兒子嗎？你們不是說他生來就瞎眼嗎？怎麼現在能看見了？」

問他們：“這是你們所說那生下來就瞎眼的兒子嗎？現在他怎麼又能看見呢？”

問他們說：『這是不是你們的兒子、你們所說生來就瞎眼的呢？那麼、他現在怎能看見呢？』

問他們：「這是你們的兒子嗎？你們說他生來是瞎眼的，現在怎麼能看見呢？」

問曰、此爾子、爾言生而瞽者乎、今何以得見耶、

爾言有子、生而瞽者、非此人乎、今如何得明、

問曰、此乃爾子、即爾所言生而瞽者乎、今如何能見、

乃召其父母而問曰：『此是爾子、即爾所謂胎瞽者乎？然則今何以能見？』

They asked the parents,“ Is this your son, whom you say was born blind? Then how does he now see?”

So the neighbors, and those who previously saw him as a beggar, were saying,“ Is this not the one who used to sit and beg?”Others were saying,“ This is he,” still others were saying,“ No, but he is like him.” The man himself kept saying,“ I am the one.”

and they recognized him as being the very one who used to sit at the Beautiful Gate of the temple to beg for charitable gifts, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing to say in reply.
