Among the crowds there was widespread whispering about him. Some said,“ He is a good man.” Others replied,“ No, he deceives the people.”

Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?

The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.

Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.

Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

And, behold,[ there was] a man named Joseph, a counsellor;[ and he was] a good man, and a just:

But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.

Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more[ shall they call] them of his household?

And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.

When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?And they said, Some[ say that thou art] John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none[ is] good, save one,[ that is], God.

For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
